2010 Quail Hollow Championship Odds to Win and Predictions – Tiger Woods the Favorite

2010-quail-hollow-championship-oddsVegas odds to win the PGA Tour’s 2010 Quail Hollow Championship are now posted on NSAwins.com and vegas oddsmakers have made Tiger Woods the 3/1 +315 favorite to win his 1st PGA Tour event since he won the BMW Championship back on September 13, 2009. Tiger made his highly anticipated return to the PGA tour at The Masters earlier this month and finished in a tie for 4th place after missing over 20 weeks of action due to his self-imposed hiatus to deal with his marriage infidelity. Tiger won the Quail Hollow Championship back in 2007 and figures to be tough to beat this weekend at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tiger’s top competition to win this weekend’s 2010 Quail Hollow Championship has to be 2010 Masters winner and top rival, Phil Mickelson(8/1 +815 odds). Mickelson has always performed well at Quail Hollow having finished in the top-10 four times in his six appearances in Charlotte and has to be well rested and feeling extremely confident about finally breaking through with a win at Quail Hollow after his tremendous performance at Augusta. Outside of Tiger and Phil, other top players with the best odds include 2006 Quail Hollow Championship winner Jim Furyk(18/1 + 1845 odds), Lee Westwood(18/1 +1845 odds) and 2008 Quail Hollow Championship winner Anthony Kim(20/1 +2050 odds). NSAwins.com’s expert handicapper Sonny “The LEGEND” LaFouchi likes Tiger Woods to win the event and capture his 2nd Quail Hollow Championship. You can bet on this week’s PGA event at SBG Global Sportsbook and get a 20% SIGN UP BONUS on your new betting account. From the Observation Deck (Vol.3)

tedy-bruschiPreseason Games- Enough already with the preseason games, is it me or does it seem this year’s fake games will never be finished?  Let’s not get carried away with them either, I mean do you really think the Jets will beat the Giants or the Lions will beat the Colts when the real bullets fly?

Tiger isn’t Tiger  – Did you see Tiger miss a 6 footer on the 18th hole yesterday that would’ve put him in a playoff? These are the kind of big-moment putts that Tiger made in his sleep and made Tiger Tiger.  He’s still the best, but he’s looked more and more mortal these past few weeks.  Then again, when you’ve accomplished what he has, how do you stay hungry?

Cutler/Orton – Call last night’s game a win for Jay Cutler.  If you watched the game, it was an even match until Devin Hester had his big punt return.  (Why you even punt it to Hester is another story).  Cutler also had a good drive for a TD before the half to pull away before the second stringers came in but it wasn’t like he was going against the Ravens or Steelers out there.

Tedy Bruschi Retires – Probably best known to NFL fans as the guy who came back after suffering a stroke, but Patriot fans remember him as one of the leaders of the defense during their superbowl winning years.  It seems the Patriots title drought over the past 4 years coincides with Bruschi’s decline.  It was apparent that his productivity was gone last year and he wasn’t going to start this year.  It points out to me that for all the offensive pyrotechnics that Brady, Moss and company puts up, its the defensive side that will dictate how far NE goes this year.  When NE won superbowls, they did it with a dominant defense and an efficient offense.   High powered offenses are nice, but they get stopped or slowed down by top defenses in the playoffs. In the history of the league, the road to the superbowl is littered with the carcasses of teams with high-octane offenses and average defenses.  Think NE of 2 years ago, Minnesota with Culpepper/Moss, San Diego with Dan Fouts and the St. Louis Ram’s greatest show on turf.

Did Tiger Woods Choke?

Dare we use the “C” word for Tiger’s performance yesterday? In a word, yes. Any time you witness a major upset, the favorite has to play below their capability and the underdog has to play extremely well. What made it so shocking wasn’t that Tiger lost a major when he had the 54 hole lead, you had to figure that would happen sooner or later. But when it did, you had to think it would be to a highly ranked, major winner like Padraig Harrington, VJ Singh, Ernie Els or someone of their caliber. No, what made it stunning was that he lost to a relative no-name journeyman named Y.E. Yang. Perhaps Tiger took him lightly or felt he would wilt down the stretch like all his other Sunday playing partners have. Or, maybe the blame goes back to Saturday where Tiger employed questionable “strategery” as former president G.W. Bush used to say. Instead of playing to widen his lead on Saturday, he played conservatively and settled for pars to maintain his lead. Obviously, this backfired on Sunday but then again, I’m sure Tiger didn’t anticipate he’d be so flat with his flatstick.

This doesn’t tarnish Tiger’s reputation one bit, and he will still go down as the best golfer to ever play when he decides to hang them up. It just shows that he is mortal and anything can happen in a sporting event. After all, isn’t that one of the reasons we watch?

Sports the Way I See It…From My Couch(Volume 1)

Here is the first installment of a weekly blog post I will be doing every week called “Sports the Way I See It”. Basically it’s just my way of covering a wide array of sports topics and being able to give my 2 cents on any topic I want. It’s just my 2 cents and uncensored opinions, so don’t take it personal and simply take it for what it’s worth(not much, lol!)…

Michael Vick signs with Eagles
I don’t know what the Eagles are thinking. Why would they want to create yet another wedge between Donovan McNabb and the Eagles fans and front office? I know Kevin Kolb is out for the season, but they still have A.J. Feeley as a realiable backup QB and creating a QB controversy on a team with legitemate Super Bowl aspirations is just not very smart. Probably a good move for Vick, but bad for the Eagles as a team and organization.

Tom Brady looking good in NFL Preseason
I was able to watch the 1st half of the Patriots-Eagles NFL Preseason game thursday night and I came away impressed with the Patriots and the play of Tom Brady. He looked like the Brady of old and that has to scare every fan in the NFL that doesn’t root for the Flying Elvis…

Donte Stallworth Suspensed for the NFL Season
Ridiculous. I’m sorry, but I just feel suspending a guy for 1 year without pay after the legal system already punished him is a little too much. I know, I know, maybe the legal system was too lenient on him and that is a debate for another day. What is not for debate is the fact that the NFL commish wielded his iron fist wildly yet again and I, for one, am tired of it. Listen, the NFL commish’s job is not to play judge and jury. I know he says the court’s ruling didn’t play any part in his decision to suspend Stallworth for 1 year, but I’m calling BS on that. This was the “play it safe” ruling that the commish has cornered the market on. Suspend the guy for 8 games. Suspending the guy for 8 games, 1 year, or 5 years wasn’t going to bring the guy he killed back. Stallworth looks genuinely sorry for what he did and deserves forgiveness. Get over yourself Goodell. Stop trying to be a bad ass…

Tiger Woods Looking to do a Wire to Wire Job at the PGA Championships
Tiger means business folks. A 5-under 67 in the 1st round on thursday without a single bogey. Impressive to say the least. The guy is on a mission this week after getting embarassed at the Bristish Open 3 weeks ago when he failed to make the cut. Here’s guessing that it will be a boring sunday afternoon for PGA fans looking for suspense, as I have no doubt that it will be a Tiger runaway win to his 15th career major championship. The guy is the best in sports. Period.

The Rick Pitino Soap Opera Down in Louisville
As I wrote the other day, there is simply no bigger FRAUD in sports than Rick Pitino. The guy has been a self promoting, 1st class JERK his entire career. He’s surrounded himself with nothing but phony ass kissers that will leave no stone unturned to get in this guy’s good graces. Even Slick Rick’s own boss, Louisville president James Ramsey, continues to drink the Pitino “kool-aid”. Ramsey was quoted saying Pitino was still “our guy” on thursday after leaving a luncheon for the Cardinals football team. Louisville should give this guy the boot and send his ass packing. Why the loyalty to this clown, James? Were you living under a rock this past summer when this guy was trying to pull another one of his patented early exits when he contacted the Sacramento Kings to try and land that job before this whole mess hit the press? It tells you everything you need to know about this guy’s ethics. What a jerk of the first order…

That’s about it for my rants this week. Until next week, that’s my 2 cents on “Sports the Way I See It”… from my couch.

2009 US PGA Championship Odds – Tiger Woods the Favorite

2009 PGA Championship Odds

2009 PGA Championship Odds

NSAwins.com has posted the odds to win the 2009 US PGA Championship and vegas oddsmakers have made Tiger Woods the overwhelming 3/2 favorite. The 4-time PGA Championship winner will be looking for a record-tying 5th win at at Hazeltine National Golf Club this week. Tiger enters the PGA Championship on fire, as he has won the last two weekends(Bridgestone Invitational and Buick Open) and three of the tour’s last four events. The only hiccup for Tiger was the British Open three weeks ago, when he failed to even make the cut. Tiger appears to be hitting on all cylinders and will be tough to catch if he brings the same game he has been bringing the past couple weeks. Tiger has won an incredible 22 of the last 40 tournaments he has played in and will be looking to capture his 15th career major tour championship as he continues to chase Jack Nicklaus’s tour record of 18 majors. Another player to keep an eye on this week is Padraig Harrington. Harrington is the defending champion in this tournament and took Tiger to the 16th round in last week’s Bridgestone Invitational before faltering. Harrington has been swinging really well and the 3-time major winner might be a solid play at 22/1 odds. Besides Tiger and Harrington, other players of note to keep an eye on this weekend are Phil Mickelson(22/1), Lee Westwood(25/1), and Hunter Mahan(28/1). Weekend Impressions…..

NFL
The NFL preseason kicked off last night with the Titans beating the Bills. Preseason games are okay while the starters are in, but they are a snooze-fest after they leave. Before long, you’ll hear voices calling for less preseason games and an 18 game regular season. While I would love to see less preseason games, I don’t think the 18 game format is such a good thing. The players would want more money and injuries are sure to increase. You would have to expand the rosters and that would water down the product. It is a game of attrition now and the healthiest teams have the best shot of winning it all. Do you want to see the luckiest teams or the best teams battle it out in the Superbowl?

I say enough already with these throwback uniforms, if they were so good, why did the teams get rid of them in the first place? When I watch a game, I want to be able to identify the teams immediately, I don’t want to have to work at it.

Tony Dungy, Michael Vick’s NFL-appointed mentor and babysitter announced in the booth last night that Vick will sign with a team as early as this week.

Golf
Tiger winning again is no big news as this is what he does. I don’t know what it is, but whoever is paired with him in the final group can never close the deal. Yesterday, it was Padraig Harrington’s turn in the barrel. He had a 3 shot lead to start the day and you felt if anyone could do it, this guy could. I mean he’s a 3 time major champ and is no wide-eyed rookie who would be intimidated. Tiger was on fire early and took the lead mid way through the round, but Harrington fought back and was ahead by one stroke heading in the fateful 16th hole. Tiger stuck an 182 yd. 8 iron (yes that’s right, a 182 yd 8 iron) to within 2 feet on his 3rd shot into the par 5 to guarantee a birdie. Harrington meanwhile, butchered his way to a triple bogey 8 on the hole. A 4 shot swing and good night Irene. Harrington’s game morphed into mine on that hole…

Red Sox-Yankees
As I suspected might happen, the Red Sox got swept by the Yankees over the weekend. These teams are like two ships passing in the night going in opposite directions. The Red Sox are a mess right now, I’m not saying they can’t right the ship and make the playoffs, but they had better turn it around starting with this upcoming homestand. They just aren’t hitting and they wasted good pitching efforts from Beckett and Lester. Francona needs to wake up and cut the cord with Jason “no-approach-at-the plate” Varitek and turn it over to newly acquired Victor Martinez. Varitek is a guaranteed out and with their offense struggling, they can’t afford to play anyone who can’t hit…
