2010 BMW Championship Odds – Tiger Woods Still No. 1, Captain’s Choice for Ryder Cup, 2010 FedEx Cup Playoff Odds and Predictions

2010 BMW Championship Vegas Odds – Tiger Woods Still No. 1, Captain’s Choice for Ryder Cup, and Advances in 2010 FedEx Cup Playoff, Odds and Predictions: Tiger Woods had a pretty good week finishing the Deutsche Bank Championship with three consecutive rounds in the 60’s to tie for 11th and moving him up to 51st in FedEx Cup points advancing him to the BMW Championship this week in Illinois. Tiger’s improved play along with another Phil Mickelson implosion on Sunday kept him with the World’s Number One ranking and gave Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin the confidence to make Tiger a Captions Pick for the upcoming Ryder Cup. Woods will need to make it into the FedEx top 30 points to make it to the season finale in Atlanta. Vegas odds makers have Tiger Woods at +600 odds to win the BMW Championship.

Pavin also picked major championship winners Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink, along with 21 year old Rickie Fowler who has yet to win on the PGA Tour. “It just came down to feelings,” Pavin said Tuesday in announcing his picks, “I had a gut feeling about Rickie.” Johnson is playing well and currently 17th in Fedex Cup points going into the BMW, while Fowler is at 25th and Cink is at 35th. Vegas odds makers have Rickie Fowler at +5000 odds, Zach Johnson at +2800 odds, and Stewart Cink +3300 odds to win the BMW Championship.

Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker both had opportunities to overtake Tiger for number 1 last week but again failed to to so, but both are still in good position in the FedEx Cup. Phil fired a final round 76 but is still in 14th place in the standings. Stricker started the week with 3 rounds in the 60’s but finished with 71 for 9th leaving him 3rd in the FedEx. Vegas odds makers have Phil Mickelson at +1400 odds and Steve Stricker +1400 odds to win the BMW Championship.

Matt Kuchar remained at number one in the FedEx Cup rankings by finishing tied with Tiger at -10 with another solid finish. The biggest mover was tournament winner Charley Hoffman who went low to shoot 62 moving him all the way to second in the FedEx standings. Odds makers at Bodog have Matt Kuchar at +2200 odds and Charley Hoffman at +4000 odds to win the BMW Championship.

While good things are happening Tiger is working hard to make them. I predict a continued move to the Top 30 in the FedEx rankings, a trip to Atlanta to compete in the final with a top 5 finish in the BMW.
