Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 1

Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Predictions, Vegas Odds, and Picks Week 1: I can’t imagine a better scenario to kick off the NFL regular season than a rematch of the overtime victory by the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints in the NFC Title game at the Superdome over the Minnesota Vikings 31-28. Ironman Brett Favre is back to lead the Vikings offense and so is Super Bowl MVP quarterback Drew Brees for the Saints in Thursday night’s NFL opener on NBC at 8:30 PM ET from the New Orleans Superdome. This game has all the story lines and should set the tone for an exciting NFL season. The Super Bowl Champ as won its opener the last 10 consecutive seasons. The odds makers at Diamond have the New Orleans Saints -6 point favorites at home against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Saints completed a 2-2 preseason but return most of their players from an offense led by Brees that led the NFL in total yards as well as touchdowns. Brees threw for 4,388 yards and 34 touchdowns last season and has leading receiver Marques Colston back after a 70 reception, 1,074 yards and 9 TD season as well as tight end Jeremy Shockey and receiver out of the back field Reggie Bush at his disposal. Defensively the saints will be without All-Pro safety Darren Sharper who will miss the early part of the season after having an operation on his knee. Head Football Coach Sean Payton likes his defense. “I think that we play with an attitude and a swagger and a confidence level that is within the rules and I like the way we play,” Payton said. Vegas odds makers have the New Orleans Saints as +670 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

The Vikings are coming in confident after finishing the preseason 3-1 and the return of major record book holder Brett Favre who sets the tone for the team with his enthusiastic play. Favre threw for 4,202 yards and 33 touchdowns last season but will be without leading receiver Sidney Rice for the opener. He will have outstanding running back Adrian Peterson to hand off to and multi threat Percy Harvin who was offensive rookie of the year in the NFL last year but has been battling migranes. The total has gone OVER in 4 of Minnesota’s last 5 games when playing on the road against New Orleans. Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 48 points combined of the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints.

I’m looking forward to a great rematch and predict a Vikings victory so take the points to win. Note: Rich Fritz is a Blog Writer on NSAwins.com and not a pro handicapper.
