2020 Production Alliance Group 300 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Auto Club Speedway

2020 Production Alliance Group 300 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Auto Club Speedway: The NASCAR XFINITY Series makes a stop at Auto Club Speedway this weekend, and Saturday’s Production Alliance Group 300 will be one of just two races all year at a two-mile oval, with Michigan International Speedway hosting the other race over the summer.

As for this weekend’s race, we are still in the feeling-out portion of the 2020 season. After the departure of Christopher Bell, Cole Custer and Tyler Reddick, we knew there would be a changing of the guard in the XFINITY Series. Chase Briscoe, Austin Cindric and Justin Allgaier made early statements with their performances at Las Vegas, but it is still too soon to declare any driver as the clear frontrunner.

In the meantime, I think the best strategy for cashing is to cast a bit of a wider net with your bets. Check out my top picks for the Production Alliance Group at Auto Club Speedway.

2020 Production Alliance Group 300 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Auto Club Speedway

Favorites to Bet

Chase Briscoe

After leading the most and taking the checkered flag at Las Vegas last weekend, Briscoe made it clear that he plans to be one of the top XFINITY regulars in 2020. More importantly, I expect him to be back in the mix for the win this weekend at Auto Club. Briscoe finished fifth in his track debut last year, and his teammate, Cole Custer, went to victory lane. Bet aggressively on Briscoe this weekend.

Austin Cindric

Cindric showed signs of a breakout at the end of last season, and he picked up where he left off in 2019 with a second-place effort at Las Vegas last weekend. Look for the momentum to continue this weekend at Auto Club, a track where Team Penske has always excelled. Cindric finished sixth at the track last year, and as much progress as he has made since then, I fully expect him to challenge for the win Saturday.

Value Bets

Justin Allgaier

As expected, Allgaier had one of the best cars at Las Vegas last weekend, and as much talent as the XFINITY Series lost from last season, the veteran should be a weekly contender. Granted, he hasn’t led a lot of laps at the two-mile ovals, but he does have seven top-10s in 10 starts between Auto Club and Michigan with his current JR Motorsports team. Allgaier might not be the favorite, but he’s a safe bet to be within striking distance.

Ross Chastain

There was plenty of buzz around Chastain this offseason after his move to Kaulig Racing, and he didn’t disappoint at Las Vegas, quickly climbing into the top five and coming away with a top-10 despite having to start 25th after qualifying was rained out. Despite mediocre equipment, he’s been a steady top-15 performer at the two-mile tracks in his career. Now that he has a car to match his ability, Chastain should be able to make some real noise at Auto Club this weekend.

Noah Gragson

It is starting to feel that we are watching Gragson make the leap to legitimate championship contender. After surviving the chaos to at Daytona to pick up the win, he came back at Las Vegas and delivered a fourth-place finish. Gragson finished a pedestrian 12th in his Auto Club debut last year, but he was the runner-up at Michigan later in the season. Based on what we’ve seen so far in 2020, I think his performance at Michigan is in line with what you should expect out of Gragson Saturday.

Sleeper Special

Daniel Hemric

His return to the XFINITY Series came to an early end when he suffered a suspension failure at Las Vegas this weekend, but I am staying on the Hemric bandwagon this weekend. In four career starts at two-mile ovals, he has a 7.5 average finish, and he finished fifth at Auto Club and second at Michigan back in 2018. His stock is a little down after the mechanical issue at Vegas, but Hemric could be a great buy-low candidate Saturday in Fontana.
