2019 Pocono Green 250 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Pocono Raceway

2019 Pocono Green 250 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Pocono Raceway: The NASCAR XFINITY Series visits Pocono Raceway this weekend, and the 2.5-mile track will host Saturday’s Pocono Green 250. Nicknamed “The Tricky Triangle” because of its layout, Pocono can be one of the toughest tracks for drivers and crew chiefs thanks to three sets of corners that all feature different configurations and degrees of banking.

The unique features make cars nearly impossible to dial in, and as a result passing is extremely difficult. The end results are wild restarts that can take out contenders and an added emphasis on pit strategy. Teams will do just about anything to secure track position, and there is a good chance this race could be decided by tire or fuel strategy.

Needless to say, this is a good spot to hedge your bets on the frontrunners by throwing a few bucks at some longshots. Check out all of my top betting options for Saturday’s XFINITY Series Pocono Green 250 at Pocono Raceway.

2019 Pocono Green 250 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Pocono Raceway

Favorites to Bet

Christopher Bell

Sure, he crashed in his Pocono debut last year, but Bell is the only driver who has been in the mix to win every race in 2019. He leads all series regulars with three victories, and nobody has led more laps than Bell. In fact, he has led multiple laps in all 11 races so far, and he has led at least 30 laps seven times. You already know Bell is going to show up with a car capable of contending for the win Saturday.

Tyler Reddick

The defending series champ has been by far the most consistent performer in the series in 2019, and after 11 races, he leads all drivers with none top-five finishes, 10 top-10s and a 4.4 average finish. He also has a couple of wins under his belt already. Reddick logged a top-10 in his Pocono debut last year, and he should be even better this time around. The numbers don’t lie. Reddick will be in the hunt for the win Saturday.

Cole Custer

Custer has picked up two wins already this season, and among the drivers who are weekly threats to win, he has had the most success at Pocono. He led 14 laps and finished seventh in his track debut in 2017, and last year, he led 23 laps and picked up a Top 5 finish. Custer seems like a lock to be a factor for the win this weekend.

Value Bets

Justin Allgaier

He is one of the best in the series at flat tracks, but Allgaier has been an all-or-nothing performer at Pocono. He has crashed out of two of the three XFINITY races here, but he led 13 laps and finished second in his other start at the track. No, he isn’t as safe of a bet as my three favorites, but Allgaier has a similar ceiling this weekend.

Austin Cindric

The Team Penske driver smashed a lot of equipment last year, but he is quietly stringing together a solid year. He has finished 11th or better in 10 of the 11 races in 2019, and he has finished sixth or better seven times. Granted, he’s yet to make a serious push for a win, but Cindric had an excellent Pocono debut a year ago, starting third and finishing fourth. This could be the track where he has a breakout performance.

Chase Briscoe

Briscoe was headed for a top-five finish at Charlotte last weekend when he suffered a cut tire in the closing laps, resulting in his first finish outside the top 15 all year. He has blossomed into a weekly top-five threat in his first full season with Stewart-Haas Racing equipment, and as strong as his SHR teammate, Cole Custer, has been at Pocono, I don’t see Briscoe missing a beat this weekend.

Sleeper Special

Gray Gaulding

Gaulding isn’t going to win this race on pure speed, but among the drivers from smaller teams, he tends to be one of the most consistent. He has finished 16th or better in seven of the 11 races, and he hasn’t finished worse than 21st since the season opener at Daytona. Gaulding nearly stole a win at Talladega a few weeks ago, and as important as pit strategy can be at Pocono, he could be in position to try to steal another one this weekend. He’s a longshot, but Gaulding has at least been competitive enough to sniff the front and try to pull a rabbit out of his hat.
