2019 Camping World 300 Picks & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Chicagoland Speedway

2019 Camping World 300 Picks2019 Camping World 300 Picks & Predictions: After getting a week off, the NASCAR XFINITY Series returns to action this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. Saturday’s Camping World 300 will be the fifth race of the 2019 season at a mile-and-a-half oval, and it will also be a companion event with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

With the Cup Series also in town, Joey Logano will be pulling double duty, and his presence changes the game a bit from a betting standpoint. Not only does he become an immediate favorite, but the odds of a longshot winning all but disappear. For an upset to happen, something now has to happen to both Logano and the top XFINITY drivers. Needless to say, I’ll be sticking with the bigger names for the Camping World 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

2019 Camping World 300 Picks & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Chicagoland Speedway

The Favorites

Joey Logano

Logano will make his first XFINITY Series start of the season this weekend, and whenever one of the top drivers in the Cup Series decides to pull double duty, they become an immediate frontrunner for the win. Logano owns a 5.9 average finish in seven career XFINITY starts at Chicagoland, leading laps in six of those races and picking up a pair of wins.

Christopher Bell

After his win at Iowa last time out, Bell now leads all drivers with four wins and 760 laps led this season. He is also the only driver who has had a shot at winning every race in 2019. He has led multiple laps in all 14 races, leading more than 30 laps nine times. Bell has also shown plenty of speed at the 1.5-mile ovals, leading more than 30 laps in three of the four races and leading more than 120 laps twice. He’s your best bet to have the car to beat this weekend.

Tyler Reddick

The defending series champ has been the most consistent performer in 2019, and after 14 races, he leads all drivers with 11 top-five finishes, 12 top-10s and a 4.7 average finish. Reddick has also made three trips to victory lane, and he has led laps in all four races at mile-and-half tracks, leading 110 laps in a win at Charlotte a few weeks back. Reddick led 35 laps in his Chicagoland debut last year, and he’s been a fixture at the front of the field this season.

Cole Custer

Custer has been fast all year, piling up three wins and leading the second-most laps of any driver. He has also shown some upside at Chicagoland, leading 41 laps and finishing seventh in his track debut in 2017 and finishing third here last year. To top it off, Custer has led at least 20 laps in each of the last five races this season, leading 50-plus three times. Expect that momentum to carry over to Chicagoland.

Value Bets

Justin Allgaier

He has been a little more boom or bust than in years past, but Allgaier has still shown plenty of speed this season. He has seven top-five finishes, including six finishes of third or better, and he ranks fourth among XFINITY drivers in laps led. Allgaier also has an excellent resume at Chicagoland. He has never finished outside the top 15 in 11 starts, posting a 7.5 average finish and picking up a couple of wins.

Noah Gragson

After a quiet start to the 2019 season, Gragson seems to be hitting his stride at the XFINITY level. He has finished sixth or better in four straight races leading up to Chicagoland, tying a career best with a second-place run at Michigan a couple of weeks ago. Gragson has shown some promise at the 1.5-mile tracks, notching three top-10s and two top-five finishes in the four races this year. He appears to be on the cusp of a breakout performance.

Sleeper Special

Michael Annett

Annett currently owns the biggest upset of the 2019 season thanks his surprise victory in the season opener at Daytona, but he might not be done playing the role of spoiler. He has remained consistent all year, logging 10 top-10s in the first 14 races. More importantly, Annett has been fast at these 1.5-mile ovals, finishing sixth or better in three of the four races this far.
