2011 Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win the Virginia 529 College Savings 250: Richmond International Raceway has hosted plenty of exciting moments in the Nationwide Series. From a then unknown Kyle Busch winning his first career race to an even more unknown Johnny Sauter battling and beating Matt Kenseth for the win, Richmond has earned its “Action Track” reputation. With plenty of bumping and banging on tap this weekend, the next unforgettable finish could be in the works at one of the premier short tracks on the schedule.

Auto Racing

Last season, Kevin Harvick reminded everyone just how good he can be in the Nationwide Series. He started on the pole and led 170 of the 250 laps on his way to the victory. Eventual series champ Brad Keselowski tried to mount a challenge, but there was no stopping Harvick.

In May, Denny Hamlin made the most of a rare Nationwide start. He led 199 of the 251 laps on his way to a victory. His only real challenger was Carl Edwards, but he had issues in the middle of the race and faded outside the top 20. The remaining challengers simply couldn’t mount a challenge against the dominant care of Hamlin.

The Favorites – 2011 Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Defending race winner Kevin Harvick returns to the Nationwide Series this weekend to try to make it back-to-back wins at Richmond in the fall. He is currently riding a six-race streak of top-10 finishes at the track, and he is a five-time winner in his career.  Harvick’s 5.4 average finish at RIR is the best among drivers in the field this weekend.

In 14 starts at Richmond, Kyle Busch has finished outside the top 15 only once. The three-time winner has finished in the top 10 in his last nine starts at the track, notching six top-five finishes during the stretch. Busch leads the Nationwide Series in wins this season, and he could add to his total this weekend.

Although he had issues earlier this year, Carl Edwards is still one of the best drivers at Richmond in the Nationwide Series. He is a three-time winner at the track, and he has finished in the top 15 in 11 of his 13 starts. Edwards has finished in the top 10 in seven of his last eight starts at RIR, and he always seems to be in the mix for the win.

The Dark Horses – 2011 Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Lines, Preview and Expert Picks

After a rough introduction to Richmond, Brad Keselowski has found a rhythm at the track in recent years. He picked up his first win at RIR last season and has reeled of five straight top-five finishes. Keselowski still needs a few more wins to be mentioned among the top drivers at the track, but he could get a step closer this weekend.

Every driver wants to win at their home track, and Elliott Sadler has been close to doing just that at Richmond on several occasions. He has finished as high as second and was even leading with a few laps to go by Carl Edwards in 2005. Sadler finished fourth at the track earlier this year, and no driver will be more motivated to get to Victory Lane.

For a young driver, Trevor Bayne has shown plenty of potential at Richmond. In three starts at the track, he has a pair of top-10 finishes, including a third-place run in his most recent start. Bayne missed the April race at the track while dealing with an illness, and he will look to make up for lost time this weekend.

He crashed in his Richmond debut, but Justin Allgaier has been on the mark at the short track ever since. He has four straight top-15 finishes at RIR, including a career-best third-place run earlier this year. Allgaier was the highest finishing non-Cup driver in the race.

Big Names to Avoid – 2011 Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Betting Odds, Predictions and Free NASCAR Picks

Despite a third-place finish in his most recent Nationwide start at Richmond, Jamie McMurray is a questionable pick this weekend. He has just a single top-10 finish in his last seven starts at the track. Worse yet, he has three finishes outside the top 30 during the stretch and four finishes outside the top 15.

Jason Leffler hasn’t been terrible at Richmond, but he always seems to be just a bit off the pace of the true contenders. Leffler has just two top-10 finishes in his last 11 starts at the track and doesn’t have a single top-five finishes. His best finish during the stretch is a 10th-place run, and Leffler seems destined to deliver solid but unspectacular results at the track.
