2011 Bank of America 500: Betting on Underdogs for Big Payoffs

2011 Bank of America 500 Expert Picks: Betting on Underdogs for Big Payoffs – How to Bet on the 2011 Bank of America 500: Earlier this year at Charlotte, one of the most exciting finishes of the year unfolded. Matt Kenseth dominated most of the night, but he was forced to pit for a splash of fuel in the closing laps. Greg Biffle inherited the lead, but he ran out of gas with less than five laps to go. A caution set up a green-white-checkered finish, and after a few more cars ran out of gas, Dale Earnhardt Jr. seemed to have an insurmountable lead on the final lap. However, he also ran out of gas on the exit of Turn 4, allowing Kevin Harvick to sneak by for the victory. In other words, bettors should expect the unexpected this weekend when the series returns to Charlotte, and Joey Logano and David Reutimann are two drivers that could pull an upset.

Both drivers were tabbed as possible Chase contenders in 2011, but nothing has gone according to plan for either Logano or Reutimann. In fact, both drivers have had miserable seasons. That being said, Charlotte Motor Speedway has been kind to both in the past, even earlier this year amid all their struggles.

Logano enters the race with a series-leading 7.4 average finish at Charlotte, and he has never finished outside the top 15 in five career starts. He has finished in the top 10 in four of those starts, including a career-best third-place run. It is also worth noting that he has finished better in the fall race than in the May race, which could mean a big night for Logano if that trend continues this weekend. At the very least, bettors have to strongly consider taking a chance on Logano at his current 40/1 odds.

Reutimann’s numbers aren’t too shabby either. He has finished in the top 15 in his last five starts at Charlotte, including three straight top-10 finishes. More importantly, he went to Victory Lane at the track in 2009. For his career, Reutimann has five career top-10 finishes at Charlotte, which are his most at any track on the schedule.

Despite the numbers, Reutimann is a 40/1 longshot to win this weekend. However, it is worth noting that he has won a race in each of the last two years, and both have come at 1.5-mile tracks. Reutimann has yet to win in 2011, but he could easily change that at Charlotte. In case he does, bettors will want to back him this weekend.
