2019 MLB All Star Game Betting Preview

Cleveland, Ohio will be the site for the 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game presented by MasterCard. The MidSummer Classic is one of the most prestigious All-Star games in professional sports, and there are some great betting opportunities available. Cleveland also hosted the All-Star game in 1997 at Progressive Field, and the fans in Ohio will be excited to be the hosts for this great event once again. This is the 90th running of the MLB All-Star Game and it is set to take place on July 9. Let’s take a quick look at the rosters for each league before making a pick of the winner of the 2019 Major League Baseball All Star Game.

National League Has Great Pitching Staff

The National League has one of the most impressive pitching staffs that has ever been assembled for an All-Star Game. Dodgers starters Hyun-Jin Ryu and Walker Buehler lead this staff, but there are several other Cy Young candidates who will be at the disposal of the National League managerial staff. Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals and Jacob DeGrom of the New York Mets are two of the best pitchers in baseball, but they might not even get a chance to pitch in this game. The American League will once again feature a great lineup, but the National League has the arms to slow them down.

MVP Candidates Cody Bellinger (Dodgers) and Christian Yelich (Brewers) will be the two biggest hitters in the National League lineup. Bellinger and Yelich are putting up monster numbers this season and both will likely have 30 home runs and 60 runs batted in by next week. Javier Baez and Willson Contreras of the Chicago Cubs are both capable of leaving the yard as well, and the National League lineup should matchup up just fine with the sluggers of the American League. Rookie Pete Alonso and Pirates first baseman Josh Bell will both be participants in the 2019 Home Run Derby, and should provide some thunder off of the bench.

American League Can Slug

The American League roster is once again full of some of the best power-hitters in baseball. Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez has already hit 23 bombs this season, and should be in the middle of the lineup for the American League. Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels is putting up monster numbers again this season, and he has a history of showing up on the game’s biggest stage. The American League does have a few surprises in their starting lineup, but they have plenty of power and thunder coming off of their bench.

Lucas Giolito (White Sox) or Justin Verlander (Astros) will likely getting the starting nod for the American League in the All-Star Game, but the strength of the AL team is in their bullpen. Aroldis Chapman is still one of the best closers in baseball, but he should have plenty of help in this game. Brad Hand and Shane Greene will likely come into this game if the American League is able to secure an early lead, and they should be able to close it out. Shutting down the National League team won’t be easy, but the AL squad has some pitchers who can do it one inning at a time.

National League Snaps Six Game Losing Streak

Even though this game is just an exhibition, the American League has proven their dominance in the last six years. The American League has had the best teams in recent years, and their roster has been stacked with superstars. This year’s game feels just a little bit different, and the National League pitching staff is just too good to ignore. Bet the National League over the American League in the Major League Baseball All Star Game.
