West Virginia Mountaineers versus North Carolina State Wolfpack

West Virginia Mountaineers versus North Carolina State Wolfpack 2010 Champs Sports Bowl Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Head football coach Bill Snyder will lead the West Virginia Mountaineers to the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando to take on the North Carolina Wolfpack in the Champs Sports Bowl on Tuesday at 6:30 PM ET on ESPN.  The Mountaineers enter the game 9-3 1st in the Big East but got beaten out to UConn for the automatic BCS berth while NC State comes in at 8-4 3rd in the Atlantic Coast Atlantic Division.  West Virginia has an interesting situation as Athletic Director Oliver Luck (Father of Stanford’s Andrew Luck) gave Coach Stewart notice that although he had earned the opportunity to coach in 2011 with their 4 game winning streak he was hiring Oklahoma State’s Dana Holgorsen for the 2012 season and he would be defensive coordinator and head coach in waiting for 2011.  “At the end of the day, results matter. And we weren’t getting the results.  I think Coach Stewart did a marvelous job toward the second half of the year,” Luck said. “We went on a great win streak, and I thought he deserved the head coaching position for the 2011 season.”  Vegas odds makers have the West Virginia Mountaineers a -2 1/2 point favorite at Florida Citrus Bowl against the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

The Mountaineers are coming off a victory 35-14 at home over Rutgers moving them to 8-3 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Geno Smith completed 23 of 28 passes for 352 yards and a touchdown while rushing 11 times for another 44 yards.  Smith hit Tavon Austin with 6 balls for 121 yards and a score.  West Virginia is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games and the total has gone UNDER in 5 of West Virginia’s last 7 games.

The Wolfpack are coming off a 38-31 loss to Maryland moving to 8-3 ATS for the season.   Quarterback Russell Wilson completed 31 of 60 passes for 311 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick also rushing 17 times for 53 yards and 2 more scores.  “After Plan A falls apart, you’ve got to go to Plan B. I think the Champs Sports Bowl is a great situation for us. It’s a great game, and we know West Virginia is a great team.” — North Carolina State quarterback Russell Wilson, to the Raleigh News & Observer.  Odds makers at BetUS have the over/under for the total score at 56 points combined of the West Virginia Mountaineers and North Carolina State Wolfpack.

I’m going homer and predicting a West Virginia Victory!
