USF Bulls at West Virginia Mountaineers 2010 NCAAF Week 7 Odds, Preview, Predictions

USF Bulls at West Virginia Mountaineers 2010 NCAAF Week 7 Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Head football coach Bill Stewart had his West Virginia Mountaineers ranked in the top 25 until they traveled to LSU and lost to the Tigers.  Now WVU finally opens Big East conference play at home on Thursday night at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN against the University of South Florida Bulls.  Bulls first year football coach Skip Holtz (Son of ESPN’s Dr. Lou Holtz) knows his team will have a handful.  “This is going to be one of the better football teams we’re going to play, especially playing on the road on a Thursday night,” Holtz said. “They’re throwing the ball better than they ever have. They are adding a dimension to their offense they have not had over the last four or five years.”  And the battle of words goes on; “We’ve got a lot on our hands,” Stewart told the school’s official website. “They’ve whipped us the last couple of games. We even lost against them with a fine quarterback by the name of Patrick White. You can call it a whole combination of things.”  Sounds like they know each other and Vegas odds makers have the West Virginia Mountaineers a -10 1/2 point favorite at home against the USF Bulls.

WVU bounced back from the LSU loss with a big win against UNLV 49-10 at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown.  Quarterback Geno Smith completed 12 of 16 passes for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns as well as 5 carries for another 19 yards.  Running back Noel Devine carried just 3 times for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns.   West Virginia is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games when playing South Florida and The total has gone UNDER in 4 of West Virginia’s last 5 games when playing South Florida.  Vegas odds makers have the West Virginia Mountaineers +17500 odds to win the 2011 BCS National Championship.

The Bulls have had a rough start under coach Holtz losing a close game 13-9 last weekend to Syracuse to fall to 3-2 for the season.  Quarterback BJ Daniels was just 9 for 23 for 120 yards and 2 interceptions while carrying the ball 13 times for -1 yard rushing.  The brightest spot of the day for the Bulls was Lindsey Lamar’s 94 yard kick return for a touchdown, but the extra point was blocked.  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of South Florida’s last 5 games when playing West Virginia.  Odds makers at BetUS have the over/under for the total score at 43 points combined of the USF Bulls and West Virginia Mountaineers.

WVU is tough at home and I predict a victory for them Thursday night.  Go Eers! Note: Rich Fritz is a Blog Writer on NSAwins.com and not a pro handicapper.
