Notre Dame Fighting Irish versus Miami Hurricanes 2010 Sun Bowl Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Head football coach Brian Kelly will lead his Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the Sun Bowl to take on the Miami Hurricanes on Friday at 2:00 PM ET in the HYUNDAI SUN BOWL on CBS Sports.  Notre Dame and Miami both enter the game at 7-5 far below their standards with the Canes finishing 2nd in the Atlantic Coast Coastal Division a far cry from 20 years ago when they last met it was for a National Championship.  “Nobody has their eyes set on the Sun Bowl when you start the season. Nobody does,” first-year Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. “But you are playing Miami in a bowl game, it sold out in 24 hours, it’s a great matchup that goes back so many years.”  Miami showed its disappointment with the firing of head football coach Randy Shannon and interim head football coach Jeff Stoutland will fill in for the Sun Bowl.  “If I wasn’t involved in this game, this game, Miami versus Notre Dame, would be a game I would definitely watch,” Stoutland said.  Vegas odds makers have the Miami Hurricanes a -3 point favorite at Sun Bowl against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Irish are coming off an impressive 20-16 victory on the road against rival USC to move to 6-4-2 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Tommy Rees completed 20 of 32 passes for 149 yards 2 touchdowns but had 3 picks hitting Michael Floyd with 11 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.  Running back Cierre Wood carried 15 times for 89 yards.  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Notre Dame’s last 5 games.

Miami is coming off a 23-20 loss to in state USF that most likely was the last straw that cost coach Shannon his job and moving the Hurricanes to just 4-7 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Jacory Harris completed 12 of 18 passes for 110 yards and a pick and Stephen Morris completed 8 for 17 passes with an interception as well.  “This is one of those situations where the history speaks for itself. We have two great programs that have incredible history, and we are playing in the second oldest bowl on national television.” — Interim coach Jeff Stoutland, on the Sun Bowl matchup with Notre Dame.  Odds makers at BetUS have the over/under for the total score at 47 points combined of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Miami Hurricanes.
