From the Observation Deck (Vol.5)

Good to have some real games to watch, isn’t it? Pretty entertaining weekend to say the least!  As I drink my morning coffee, I’m left with some impressions from the weekend….

What is going on in Carolina?  This team, rather this franchise, is spiraling down  the drain.  What was THAT yesterday?  Jake “the turnover machine” Delhomme was at his hideous worst and they laid ANOTHER egg in their home stadium.   First it was their defensive coordinator who left for a lesser job, then Julius Peppers wanted out, then the owner’s two sons quit or Daddy kicked them out, depending on which version you believe…  Maybe they all couldn’t bear to play with Delhomme anymore, I know I couldn’t!  Fox and Hurney should be dusting off their resumes because its not a question of if they will be fired, but when.  After all, they are the one’s who gave Jake another 20 million AFTER the playoff debacle against Arizona.

Notre Dame Falls to Michigan – What happened to this ND juggernaut, senile Lou Holtz?  Didn’t take long for Fat Charlie’s team to be exposed again, did it?  Memo to Charlie:  Get a defense, son!  And what is the over/under on his belt size?  I say 65…

Trendy Preseason Up-and-Coming Teams – Every year the pundits fall all over themselves to pick some trendy up and comers that will be the surprise teams of the year.  This year, we heard a lot of Houston and Cincinnati noise…  How’s that working out fellas?  Houston flat out blows and they ain’t going anywhere, okay?  Quit waiting for them to emerge, the coach sucks and the QB is nothing special.  If you are planning to make a statement, you don’t lose opening day to the Jets with a rookie QB.   And your Cincinnati Bungles found a new way to lose yesterday to Denver.  Yeah it was a fluke play, but it’s no excuse to put up only 7 pts. on a woeful Bronco defense, so you have nobody to blame but yourselves…

Concerns with Baltimore’s Defense? – Baltimore had their hands full with KC for most of the game yesterday and allowed way too many points to this squad.  Maybe it was overconfidence, but perhaps age and defections are starting to catch up with Ray Ray’s bunch, it bears watching …

Nice Debut Cutler – Time to dump on one of my favorite whipping boys, Jay Cutler…  This overrated stiff showed his true colors last night by throwing the ball up for grabs all night.  Trust me, this guy is not a leader and it’s just a matter of time and more bad games before he goes off on his receivers and coaches, because it can’t be Jay’s fault!
