East Carolina Pirates versus Maryland Terrapins Military Bowl Odds, Preview, Predictions

East Carolina Pirates versus Maryland Terrapins Military Bowl Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Head football coach Ralph Friedgen will lead the Maryland Terrapins for the last time as the head to R.F.K. Memorial Stadium to take on the East Carolina Pirates at 2:30 PM ET on Wednesday for the 2010 Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman on ESPN.  The Pirates enter the game losing 4 of their last 5 to 6-6 good enough for 2nd in the Conference USA East while the Terps come in at 8-4 winning 4 of their last 6 games for 2nd in the Atlantic Coast Atlantic Division but not good enough for coach Friedgen to keep his job.  “It became clear that we needed to make a well thought-out business decision about the long-term direction and success of the football program at the University of Maryland,” Anderson said. “The decision I reached is about our vision forward, as well as solidifying our coaching staff and our recruiting efforts for the long term.”

Although it’s like a home game to Maryland, it’s pretty close for the Pirate faithful as well.  “It’s in the backyard of the Terrapin fans. For us, this is a ride up (Interstate) 95,” first-year coach Ruffin McNeill said. “A lot of our family and team members are from the Virginia, D.C. and Maryland areas.”  Vegas odds makers have the Maryland Terrapins a -7 1/2 point favorite at R.F.K. Memorial Stadium against the East Carolina Pirates.

The Terrapins are coming off a 38-31 victory at home over North Carolina State moving to 7-4 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Danny O’Brien completed 33 of 47 passes for a whopping 417 yards and 4 touchdowns hitting Torrey Smith with 14 passes for an incredible 224 yards and all 4 scores.  The total has gone OVER in 4 of Maryland’s last 6 games.

The Pirates are coming off a 45-38 loss at home to SMU to move to 6-6 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Dominique Davis completed 33 of 45 passes for 314 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick while rushing 6 times for -11 yards but another touchdown.   Running back Jonathon Williams carried 14 times for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the running game.  East Carolina is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games and the total has gone OVER in 5 of East Carolina’s last 5 games.  Odds makers at SBG Global have the over/under for the total score at 67 1/2 points combined of the East Carolina Pirates and Maryland Terrapins.

I predict a Maryland sentimental Victory!
