College Football Power Rankings Thru 11/21/09 and News and Notes

The Curtains are Closing Fast on the Charlie Weis Era
Well, it’s all but official that Charlie Weis won’t be back next season in South Bend. Has this guy proven to be a FRAUD or what? Good lord, but not since Rick Pitino crashed and burned with the Boston Celtics can I remember another situation where a coach came in with such high expectations to fail so miserably the way Weis has with Notre Dame. The guy, according to many people, is an arrogant prick and it is only justice to see the guy leave with egg on his face after coming in like he was going to take college football by storm. Notre Dame needs to hire a coach that is PROVEN in the college ranks and wants to WIN first and NOT be the “show”. Scrach Brian Kelly off your list if that’s your criteria, because that guy is an arrogant prick like Charlie that will want to be the “show”.

Michigan needs to WAKE UP and FIRE Rich Rodriguez
If I was a booster, graduate, student or fan of Michigan football I would be irate over the fact that Rich Rodriguez will be allowed to come back and coach his 3rd season in Ann Arbor. What else does this BUM have to prove in order to convince the powers that be at UM that he is an AWFUL football coach? Did they not see this guy GAG away a BCS championship game berth in his last season at West Virginia at home vs a vastly inferior Pittsburgh team? Did they not watch this guy FAIL to even make a bowl game in his 1st two years at Michigan? How about this year’s dismal 5-7 campaign? How about the NCAA violations that are rumored to be true and currently being investigated? Michigan fans should be outraged. Michigan is hands down one of the nation’s Top 5 jobs and there are plenty of great up and coming head coaches that can lead this program back to the top of of the polls. FIRE this BUM already.

My Top 10 College Football Power Rankings
1. Texas – Another dominant performance by the Horns saturday over Kansas.
2. Alabama – What’s up with SEC teams playing cream puffs in November? Give me a break.
3. Florida – Again, like Alabama, what is the deal with the cream puffs on the November slate?
4. TCU – I’m this close to bumping TCU up to #2. Seriously, they are the REAL DEAL.
5. Ohio St – The Buckeyes quietly had a really solid season. They will be pumped up and ready to win a BCS game for the 1st time in 6 years in the Rose Bowl.
6. Pittsburgh – I will repeat what I said last week. They WILL beat Cincinnati. Remember who said it first.
7. Georgia Tech – The Jackets will have their hands full with a Clemson team in the ACC Championship game that is vastly improved since their week 2 loss in Atlanta by just 3 points.
8. Cincinnati – I can’t wait until the overrated, pompous jerk Brian Kelly gets a reality check in Pittsburgh in a couple weeks.
9. Boise St – Another week. Another ho hum blowout over a cream puff. Tough to take this team serious.
10. Penn St – Remember when everyone wanted Joe Pa to retire just a few years ago? Give the old man credit. He has the program back and then some.
