2009 Big East Football Championship Odds – Pittsburgh the Favorite

The odds to win the 2009 Big East Football Championship are now posted at NSAwins.com and vegas oddsmakers have made the Pittsburgh Panthers the 2/1(+200) favorite. Dave Wannstedt begins his 5th season as head coach of the Panthers and this may be his most talented team yet. The Panthers return 7 starters on offense and 7 starters on defense from a team that won 9 out of their last 11 games last season before getting shutout against Oregon St in their bowl game. If the Panthers are to win the Big East and get to a BCS Bowl this season, than they will probably have to win their October 24th home game against South Florida. The Bulls have also been given 2/1(+200) odds to win the Big East this season by vegas oddsmakers. The oddsmakers, however, might be being too respectful to the Bulls, as Jim Leavitt’s team only returns 5 starters on offense and 6 starters on defense from a 2008 team that was just 2-5 in Big East play. QB Matt Grothe returns for his 4th season as starter, but will be playing behind an offensive line that will have to replace 4 starters from last year’s outfit. Rutgers has been given the 3rd best odds to win the Big East this season with 4.5/1(+450 odds). NSAwins.com’s official 2009 Big East football prediction is for the Pittsburgh Panthers to get it done and get the conference’s BCS bid. The Panthers are a veteran ballclub that came on strong last season and should be prepared to take on all comers in a mediocre Big East this season.
