2011 Wimbledon Men’s Odds, Predictions, Free Picks and Tips – Favorites to Win 2011 Wimbledon Championships

2011 Wimbledon Men’s Predictions, Free Tips and Odds – Favorites and Lines to Win Wimbledon Championships: The betting odds to win the 2011 Men’s Wimbledom Championships have been posted in Las Vegas and at online bookmakers including BetFred and the oddsmakers at BetFred have listed Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer the 9/4 co-favorites to win the 2011 Wimbledon Men’s Championships. Arguably the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon is without question the oldest and longest-running tournament. The tournament has been held at the All-England Club in London since 1877, and is rich in tradition. From the dress code that all competitors must follow to the eating of strawberries and cream, Wimbledon has developed a reputation and aura all its own in the tennis world.

Wimbledon is one of four Grand Slam events held each year, and it follows the Australian Open and French Open on the schedule. It is the only Major still played on grass, which adds several variables to the equation. Grass is the fastest surface in tennis, but it is also very slippery. Not to mention the fact that the ball bounces differently depending on the length of the grass as well as on parts of the surface that have been worn down from heavy use. It isn’t quite as tricky as clay, but success at the grass court at Wimbledon doesn’t come easy.

2011 Men’s Wimbledon Championships – The Favorites

A win at Wimbledon this year for Roger Federer would tie him with Pete Sampras for the most titles at the All-England Club with seven. Federer has been in the finals of seven of the last eight Wimbledon finals, winning six times. If clay is his weakness, then grass is his specialty. Federer will be out to add another Grand Slam title to his record 16 and to prove his time on top of the tennis world isn’t over yet.

Fresh off another win in the French Open, Rafael Nadal will look to continue to add to his legacy with a third win at Wimbledon. He is the defending winner of the tournament, and with his victory in 2008, Nadal has won at the All-England Club in two of the past three seasons. With 10 Grand Slam titles and counting, he is quickly establishing himself as one of the dominant players of his era. His primary competition has been Roger Federer – the man he beat to win Wimbledon in 2008.

2011 Men’s Wimbledon Championships – The Dark Horses

He finally lost in 2011 when Roger Federer defeated him in the semifinals of the French Open, but Novak Djokovic still brings a 43-1 record this season into Wimbledon. Although historically he has been at his best on hard surfaces, Djokovic is playing at a level he has never reached before in his career. He has shown he can play well on the biggest stages, and he rolled through the field at the Australian Open to win his second career Grand Slam. Momentum alone should make him a threat at the All-England Club.

The last time an English player won at the All-England Club was 1968. Andy Murray will look to end that streak by finally getting the Grand Slam monkey off his back. Murray has been a staple of the semifinals at all the big events, but Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been waiting to cut him down. Still, Murray is clearly a top-four player in the world right now, and a breakthrough could come at any time. At the very least, Murray will have the crowd in his corner throughout the tournament.

2011 Men’s Wimbledon Championships – Sleeper Pick

Although he has never won a Grand Slam event, Richard Gasquet has made a few deep runs at Wimbledon in the past. He reached the fourth round on two occasions at the All-England Club, and he was a semifinalist in 2007. Gasquet has six singles titles in his career, and he has been playing some decent tennis in the Grand Slam events this year. He made it to the third round in the Australian Open and the fourth round in the French Open. The top four players aren’t likely to be upset, but Gasquet is one player that is playing consistent enough to pull off an upset.
