Bet On Panthers +9 @ Buccaneers at BOVADA
Both teams enter this week 0-1 and looking to get in the win column. The Panthers battled the Raiders tooth and nail las Sunday at home before losing 34-30. Meanwhile, the Bucs laid a big time egg in New Orleans where they got dismantled by the Saints, 34-23.
My money is going down on the Panthers +9. Listen, I told people all last season and this off season that Tom Brady has slipped badly and not enough people want to admit it. His legendary pinpoint accuracy has eroded big time. Bill Belichick saw it. Many NFL scouts saw it. People get fooled because he still makes great throws and can have some flawless drives. However, over the course of a full game and season he is going to miss his mark badly and he simply isn’t anywhere close to being an elite quarterback anymore.
Take the points Sunday because Tampa is still getting treated as if they are a true NFL contender this season. They are not. The defense is average at best. The special teams are awful. Bruce Arians is not as good as he thinks he is. I’m just not buying this team at all.
Bet On Broncos @ Steelers OVER 40.5 at BetOnline
The Steelers looked promising on Monday night in outclassing the Giants on the road 26-16. They didn’t play great but they did enough on both sides of the ball that you have to like their chances to improve as the season moves along and be a factor in the AFC this season. The defense has big time potential and the offense is going to keep getting better as Big Ben works off the rust.
On the other side, Denver was almost handed a gift at home Monday night as the Titans were trying to gift wrap them the game with missed kick after missed kick. However, the Broncos couldn’t capitalize and ended up losing 16-14. Having said that, I also think the Broncos are going to get better as the season moves along and have a chance at getting an AFC Wild Card spot. I’m a fan of 2nd year quarterback Drew Lock.
I’m putting in a bet on the OVER in this matchup. The total is just too low. Both teams played Monday night and had one less day to let their bodies recover. Plus, I think the Steelers offense is going to move the ball on Denver just as good as Tennessee did and better. The Broncos defense looked mediocre at best Monday night and Von Miller is out for the year. I also think Drew Lock has enough weapons to put some points on the board too especially if wide receiver Courtland Sutton returns this Sunday. Don’t forget, Denver got stuffed on 4th and goal from inside the 1 yard line against Tennessee so very easily could have put up 21 last week against a good Titans defense.
