NFL Preseason Picks Week 2: Philadelphia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals NFL Odds

Philadelphia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals 2010 NFL Preseason Picks Week 2: The Philadelphia Eagles travel to the Midwest to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday night to showcase two teams with many similarities and some big differences. Both are coming off preseason wins, both off of post season losses, the biggest changes are with the Eagles dumping quarterback Donovan McNabb and running back Brian Westbrook the back bone of their offense. The Bengals on the other hand added Antonia Bryant and Terrell Owens as additional weapons to an already potent offense. The changes leave big questions as to how the new players and chemistry will work out for each team this season. The odds makers at BetPhoenix have the Cincinnati Bengals -3 point favorites at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Bengals lost the Hall of Fame opener to the Cowboys but bounced back with a nice win against the Denver Broncos 33-24. Quarterback Carson Palmer had good stats with 12 for 15 passing and 105 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, while backup J.T. O’Sullivan also excelled 7 for 15 for 118 yards. Running back Cedric Benson scored on a one yard run early in the 2nd quarter culminating a 78 yard drive for the Bengals. T.O. is looking to be the go to guy for Palmer as he had 4 receptions to Chad Ochocinco’s one. Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 37 points combined of the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles head football coach Andy Reid definitely has the biggest changes to cope with of a tenured NFL coach. The Eagles were mauled the Cowboys in consecutive weeks, the regular-season finale (24–0) and first-round playoff disaster (34–14). Out with the old, in with then young! Quarterback Kevin Kolb was played well and backup Michael Vick reminded many of the old Vick before Kafka led the Eagles from behind to a 28-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in their preseason opener Friday night. ”We know we’re talented,” Kolb said. ”We know there’s talent on the field all over the place. We just have to execute. We’re doing our own thing. We don’t need to force anything. We’re a young bunch. We’re excited about the way we started things today and we just need to keep moving forward next week.” The Vegas odds makers have the Philadelphia Eagles listed at +400 odds to win the 2010 NFC East.

This would be a good regular season matchup, but with the starters only playing the first half, if that, I see it as a good win for the Bengals at home. Take the Bengals and over as there will be plenty of fireworks offensively with these two teams.
