NFL POWER RANKINGS – Week 5

Rank/W-L/Last Week

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

1.Giants 4-0 (1)-Currently feasting on cupcakes (and another on tap this week) but trust me, this is a tough physical squad with good players and coaches.

2.Colts 4-0 (3) – Off to a great start and proving that Tony “the NFL psychiatrist” Dungy was OVER-RATED…..

3.Saints 4-0 (4)-Kudos to the Saints for giving the Jets a reality check.  Will Atlanta even challenge them for the division?

4.Patriots 3-1 (6)- Very good bounceback after the NY loss beating Atlanta and Baltimore back-to-back.  Interestingly, NE has not played a team with a loss all year and play another unbeaten team in Denver this week.

5.Ravens 3-1 (2)-No shame in losing in Foxboro, but they can’t seem to beat Pittsburgh or NE and are now 0-5 all time against the Pats.  They need to quit blaming the refs and play better, period.

6.Vikings 4-0 (7) I’m no Favre fan, but I’ll give him his due for an excellent game on Mon.  I still don’t think he’ll last a full season and the Bald guy will F**k it up eventually, but for now, good job!

7.Steelers 2-2 (12) The Squealers still have issues but because they have a track record, I’ll give them a mulligan and keep them in the upper echelon.  I still think when push comes to shove, I’d take this team over most of the top ten teams.

8.Jets 3-1 (8) No penalty for losing on the road to a good Saints team.   But just as we thought, “The Sanchise” will be their Achilles Heel all year…..

9.Broncos 4-0 (17) Biggest mover in the rankings and justifiably so…  I don’t care who you’re playing, holding people to 6.5 pts a game is impressive.  Beating Dallas is one thing, but the big boys are in town this week.

10.Falcons 2-1 (9) Hopefully they worked on rush defense during their bye week, they’ll need it against SF.

11.Bears 3-1 (13) Quietly putting a good season together… Still have my doubts about Cutler but for now they are in the hunt..

12.Eagles 2-1 (10) With the Bucs in town, is it any wonder McNabb is saying he’s ready to play now?  Nice knock-0ff-the-rust team to go against in his return.

MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION

13.Chargers 2-2 (5) Have we overrated their talent, or are they just underachieving, or, does the coaching stink?  Perhaps the correct answer is “All of the Above”…..

14.Niners 3-1 (16)  I will not rank this team higher until they beat someone out of their division.  Impressive wins sure, but their division is by far the worst in the league.

15.Bengals 3-1 (15) Still pissed at them for blowing what should’ve been an easy cover vs. Browns.  Maybe they were looking ahead to Baltimore, who knows, but we’ll know a lot more about them after Sunday for sure.

16.Packers 2-2 (11) I think Aaron Rodgers better hope his life insurance is paid up with this piss-poor offensive line.  Too bad, too, because the guy is pretty damn good.

17.Cowboys 2-2 (14) Romo’s way overrated, Phillips is a buffoon and plastic face Jerry is getting what he deserves….  I love watching this train wreck, don’t you?

18.Cardinals 1-2 (19) This team is soft, I’m sorry…. They have talent but when they get hit in the mouth, they disappear….

19.Jaguars 2-2 (22) Can anyone figure this team out?  I know I can’t….

20.Texans 2-2 (23) Don’t get too excited, their 2 wins are against teams who are 1-7 collectively….

21.Redskins 2-2 (26) See above….  except their 2 wins come against teams who are a combined 0-8!  In contrast to New England who haven’t played teams with a loss, Washington has not played a team with a win this year and keep that streak alive this week against Carolina!

22. Dolphins 1-3 (24) Got off the schneid against the Bills and have another division foe this week.  Rex Ryan knows how to beat the Wildcat so I don’t see 2 in a row this week against the Jets.

LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

23. Bills 1-3 (20) So much promise for this team after week 1, and looked like they were ready to contend.  What happened?  Is T.O. THAT much of a cancer?  Nah, bad coaching and amateurs in the front office is my take.

24.Seahawks 1-3 (21) I really though this team was poised to take back the division…  I know Hasselbeck is hurt, but was I woefully wrong about them…

25.Titans 0-4 (18) I guess they’re not that desperate after all, are they?  Looks like a bunch of check-collectors to me…..

26.Lions 1-3 (25) Rome wasn’t built in a day, fellas….

27. Panthers 0-3 (27) Now if they can’t beat Washington at home after the bye week, exactly who will they beat this year?  You tell me….

28. Raiders 1-3 (28) What are the odds of the draft pick they give NE for Seymour in 2 years being worse than a #5 overall?  The way these guys are going, wouldn’t surprise me to see them become the new Lions next year…

29.Bucs 0-4 (29) In a fierce battle with Carolina for last place in the NFC South….and what a battle it is!

30.Browns 0-4(30) Only reason they’re not last in the rankings is they at least got to OT against a good Bengals group…  How the hell did that happen, anyway?

31.Chiefs 0-4(31) Starting to think Hoodie fleeced his old friend Pioli in the Cassel deal, sure looks that way.  Am I wrong?

32.Rams 0-4(32) That stellar effort in SF cements this putrid squad in last place.  I’d rank you #45, but there are only 32 teams…
