2020 NFL Draft Betting Props – Will Justin Herbert Be the 2nd QB Drafted?

2020 NFL Draft Betting Props – Bets to Target

The 2020 NFL Draft remains on track to be held remotely later this month, and with next to nothing going on in the sporting world as a whole, it is also one of the few events we have to bet on for the foreseeable future. There are a number of different prop bets being offered for the draft, including which players will be the first at their respective positions to be selected and which players are most likely to be picked at a certain spot. Check out some of the best values among these prop bets for the 2020 NFL Draft.

First Running Back Drafted

Best Bet: Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin Badgers (+160)

DeAndre Swift is the frontrunner to be the first back selected, but Taylor is coming off the most productive three years a running back has ever had at the collegiate level. He also made some strides as a receiver last year, and he alleviated any concerns that he may just be a “system back” by posting the best time among running backs in the 40-yard dash. A heavy workload in college could scare off some teams, but since there isn’t a transcendent prospect at the position in this year’s class that is likely to go high in the first round, I think the first couple of backs picked will go to teams with solid rosters who just want to bolster their offense a bit. An early-down, proven workhorse like Taylor is going to be appealing to these types of teams. I’ll take my chances with Taylor and the extra room for profit. First Wide Receiver Drafted

Best Bet: Henry Ruggs, Alabama Crimson Tide (+700)

CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy are the favorites to be the first receiver off the board, but both are listed with similar odds and offer little room for profit. If I am throwing money at this prop, I am going to take a flier on Ruggs. The speedster lit up the combine with a blazing time in the 40-yard dash, and I’m not sure there is anything that gets NFL general managers more excited than a lightning fast receiver. Do Darrius Heyward-Bey, Troy Williamson and John Ross ring a bell? I’d take a shot at Ruggs at +700 and hope some GM falls in love. Second Quarterback Drafted

Best Bet: Justin Herbert, Oregon Ducks (+350)

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is the overwhelming favorite to be the second quarterback picked, but at -500, I’ll pass on that entirely. There’s no money to be made. Meanwhile, Herbert is listed at +350, and there have been plenty of rumblings that several teams prefer Herbert over Tagovailoa because of the latter’s injury concerns. Rumor has it that one of those teams may be Miami. The Dolphins hold the No. 5 pick and are definitely in the market for a franchise QB. More importantly, the team owner recently said Tagovailoa’s injury history is a definite concern. While I personally think it would be a huge mistake, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Miami go with Herbert over Tua. Check out the 2020 NFL Draft 2nd Overall Pick Odds from Bovada.

Third Overall Pick

Isaiah Simmons, Clemson Tigers (+700)

Jeffrey Okudah has the best odds to be taken at the No. 3 spot, but I think Simmons has a legitimate shot to go here and is offering decent profit potential. The Detroit Lions currently hold this pick, and while cornerback is a need, the team is lacking talent on the defensive side of the ball as a while. Simmons is one of the most versatile prospects in recent memory, capable of playing at the linebacker spot or in the secondary. Yes, there are some concerns that his positionless-style could actually be a hurdle at the next level, but if you look at his film and measurables, he is much more likely to become an every-down playmaker. At +700, I think a Swiss Army knife like Simmons has the most bettor-friendly odds of any player with a legitimate chance to go at No. 3.
