2018 NFL Picks & Betting Odds Week 7 – Cleveland Browns @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Predictions

The Cleveland Browns enter this week 2-3-1 overall and 4-2 against the spread. The Browns are coming off of a 38-14 shellacking at home against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday. The embarrassing loss wiped away all the good feel from the big 12-9 AFC North Division win over Baltimore the week prior and dropped the Browns under .500 on the season.

The Browns were thoroughly dominated last week against the Chargers. The Chargers rushed for a whopping 246 yards on 36 carries and passed for 203 yards on their way to 24 first downs and were leading 35-6 thru 3 quarters. Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield got a reality check as he connected on just 22 out of 46 passes for 238 yards and 1 touchdown while tossing 2 interceptions.

The Browns offense averages 366.2 yards per game and 5.3 yards per play this season thru 6 weeks. The defense is giving up 406.5 yards per game and 5.8 yards per play. Those numbers are not indicative of a team that will finish above .500 and make the playoffs at all. The Browns need to improve on both sides of the ball and fast if they plan at making a run at a playoff spot this season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-3 overall and 2-3 against the spread coming into this week. The Bucs have now lost their last 3 games after losing 34-29 at Atlanta last Sunday in a NFC South Division matchup.

The Bucs outgained the Falcons last Sunday as the Bucs passed for 389 yards and rushed for 121 yards. The offense was moving the ball at will but two interceptions from quarterback Jameis Winston was the difference as the Bucs lost the turnover battle 2-0 and were stuck walking off the field as losers for the 3rd straight game after starting the season off 2-0.

Tampa Bay averages 440 yards per game and 7.1 yards per play on offense. The Bucs defense is giving up 448.2 yards per game and 7.4 yards per play. The Bucs need their defense to improve and fast if they want to get back over .500 at some point this season as right now they are one of the worst units in the league.

This game should be high scoring so a play on the OVER may be a good bet. However, our money is going down on Tampa Bay -3.5 on the spread. Cleveland has yet to prove they can win away from home and they are going up against a desperate team looking to stop the bleeding after losing it’s last 3 games. Take Tampa Bay and lay the points.
