2018 NFL Picks & Betting Odds Week 4 – Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots Predictions

The New England Patriots are off to a very rocky start in the 2018 season so far as they come in 1-2 overall. The Patriots have lost the last two weeks including an embarrassing 26-10 loss last Sunday Night at the Detroit Lions.

The naysayers and haters are out in full force this season as the Patriots appear to be old, slow and not very talented across the board. Sure, they still have arguably the best quarterback in the game in 41 year-old future Hall of Famer Tom Brady but he doesn’t have much help on both sides of the ball.

Brady has all pro tight end Rob Gronkowski and a bunch of ham and eggers to throw the ball too on offense until wide receiver Julian Edelman returns for his four game suspension next week. The offense has been terrible the past couple weeks as they scored just 20 points at Jacksonville and 10 last week at Detroit. A non-existent running game is just making the Patriots lack of receiving talent even worse as Brady can’t get the chains moving and the scoreboard humming like he usually does.

Defensively, things are even worse for a New England defense that is very bad. The Pats defense has a mediocre pass rush at best and that isn’t helping a secondary that is very average and slow along with a linebacking unit that is slow and not very talented. Who built this roster? Head coach Bill Belichick gets hailed as a genius but has anyone looked at the drafts he has overseen lately? Woof.

Meanwhile, head coach Adam Gase has the loyal fans in South Florida dreaming big this season as the Miami Dolphins are off to an impressive 3-0 start. The Dolphins beat the Oakland Raiders 28-20 last Sunday in Miami and are now a profitable 3-0 against the spread for their loyal backers in 2018.

One of the biggest reasons for the hot start for the Dolphins this season is the return of quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill missed last season with an injury but has returned big time to lead a Miami offense that has been very good so far this season. Tannehill has thrown 5 touchdowns and no interceptions the last 2 weeks as he’s shaking off the rust like a pro. Tannehill has completed 73 percent of his passes is averaging 9.3 yards per attempt this season as he’s looking like a pro bowler.

The Dolphins can put a nail in the Patriots coffin early this year in the AFC East Division race with a win this week. Sure, it’s still early but a win would give the Dolphins a 3 game lead in the win/loss column plus the head to head tie breaker with the rematch in Miami later this season. It’s a must win game for New England make no mistake about it. Because of that, look for New England to let it all hang out and rally the troops for a much needed win and cover this Sunday. When their backs are against the wall they almost always respond and play their best football.
