2010 NFL Preseason Odds, Picks Week 3: Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers on ESPN

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers 2010 NFL Preseason Odds, Picks Week 3: The NFL regular season is almost upon us, but first we have week 3 of the preseason which is traditionally the games that the starters play the longest. Depending on their experience with the team and familiarity with the particular schemes some will play deep into the second half. Both the Colts and Packers are coming off of playoff seasons and without a deeper look the Colts look to have had a better year by winning their first 13 games and going to the Super Bowl. Vegas odds makers have the Indianapolis Colts as +450 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

Statistically these teams are not only closer than one would think, but Green Bay has the edge. Offensively for 2009 the Colts Rush Yards per game 80.9 ranked (32nd), Pass Yards/Game 282.2 ranked (2nd), and Total Yards/Game 363.1 ranked (9th) whereas the Packers Rush Yards/Game 117.8 (14th), Pass Yards/Game 261.3 (7th), and Total Yards/Game 379.1 (6th). Impressive numbers and if you look at the quarterback comparison it’s eerily as similar. Defensively Green Bay crushes the Colts ranking first against the run and 2nd overall in the NFL. Vegas odds makers have the Green Bay Packers as +800 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

Indy is coming off a 34-21 trouncing by the Buffalo Bills and starts the preseason at 0-2. MVP quarterback Payton Manning was 8 for 15 in the air for 91 yards, a touchdown, and an interception for a Bills touchdown all in the first half. “We’ve still got some work to do. That’s kind of what preseason is for,” said Manning, “You want everything to go perfect while you’re in there. That’s not always the case, but I think you’ve got to have those kind of expectations.” The odds makers at BetUS have the Green Bay Packers -4 point favorites at home against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Pack edged the Seahawks on the road in Seattle 27-24 to even their preseason record. Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers continued his stellar play going 8 for 11 passing for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter. Green bay was without 7 starters for the game, six of them on the defensive side. Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 44 1/2 points combined of the Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts.

The records don’t mean as much to the Colts as they showed by sitting their stars at the end of last season so I predict a Green Bay victory at home covering the spread so give the points.(NOTE: Rich Fritz is not a pro handicapper and his opinions may or may not differ from the expert opinions by NSAwins.com’s professional sports handicappers.)
