2010 NFL Predictions: Miami Dolphins 2010 Preview, Schedule, Odds and Picks

Miami Dolphins 2010 NFL Preview, Schedule, Odds, and Predictions: Will the big three bring a title to Miami? No not Wade, Bosh, and James, but the trio of executive vice president Bill Parcells, general manager Jeff Ireland and head football coach Tony Sparano. The Dolphins had the Jets number last season beating them both home and away and split with both Buffalo and New England. Clean up the act and win two against Buffalo this year and the Fins could wind up as AFC East Division Champs. This year the Dolphins are being overlooked and Vegas odds makers have the Miami Dolphins as +2600 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

Coach Sparano is entering his third season and is 18-15 after taking over a 1-15 team the previous year. He has added a toughness and credibility that was lacking. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning and quarterbacks coach David Lee worked new starter Chad Henne in slow last season. Look for them to expand the offense this year. New defensive coordinator Mike Nolan will put in the 3-4 aggressive schemes that Parcells and Sparano prefer and will all but one draft choice on defense look for a deeper more successful unit. The odds makers at BetUS have the Miami Dolphins listed at +1300 odds to win the 2010 AFC Championship.

Offensively the Dolphins should be solid with a run first mentality with the duo of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams giving them a double threat. Henne was decent in his starting role but has to limit the turnovers at crucial times that cost him last year. He will have a big time receiver to throw to for the first time as the Fins acquired Brandon Marshall from Denver a legitimate No. 1 receiver. The line is solid anchored by Jake Long the Michigan offensive tackle that protected Henne for four years in college. The vegas odds makers have the Miami Dolphins listed at +500 odds to win the 2010 AFC East.

Defensively the Dolphins are still young but getting better under Nolan and have brought in former Cardinals standout Karlos Dansby, “He’s a big linebacker that’s rangy and that can really run,” Sparano says, and so can Cameron Wake the two-time Canadian Football League Defensive Player of the Year now with the Fins. The surprise of 2009 was the play of the two rookie cornerbacks Vontae Davis who lineup with Sean Smith. A season under their belt and their experience will give Nolan more options to put pressure on the opposing quarterbacks. The odds makers at BetUS have the Miami Dolphins middle number listed at over/under 8 1/2 wins for the 2010 NFL regular season.

The Big 3 have cleaned house and have the big strong team they wanted to build and its time to see if they can lead it to the championship. I predict another 11-5 season and an AFC East division championship, but losing in the AFC championship game. A homer pick!
