The Celtics and Cavs, who played a brutal, physical playoff series won by Boston in seven games two years ago, have been pounding each other for awhile. A few years ago, Pierce was seen spitting in the direction of Cleveland’s bench during a preseason game. Last October, the teams were involved in a minor tussle during an exhibition game in Columbus, Ohio, when Mo Williams threw an elbow in retaliation after being tossed to the floor by Celtics forward Shelden Williams. Lebron James’ mom, Gloria, even got involved once by getting into it with Pierce, yelling at him after he locked up her baby boy on a fastbreak dunk during the 2008 playoffs. Tempers rose during the team’s last meeting on April 4. Getting embarassed by 22 points in the third quarter, Cleveland fought back before losing 117-113 in a contest that had six technical fouls, the ejection of Cavs coach Mike Brown and some intense, X-rated woofing between James and Boston’s Kevin Garnett and Tony Allen. “They do a lot of talking,” James said. “At some point in time they back it up, too. We’re looking forward to it. We’re not much of a talking group, but we’re not going to back down from anybody.
