Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic 2010 NBA Preview, Odds, and Predictions

Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic 2010 NBA Preview, Odds, and Predictions:  Head Coach Doc Rivers will lead his Boston Celtics to the Amway Center to take on the younger version of Superman and the Orlando Magic on Christmas Day at 2:30 PM ET on ABC.  The Celtics enter the game on a 14 game winning streak at 23-4 good for 1st in the Atlantic while the Magic have done an early season retooling of their roster and come in at 17-12 good for 3rd in the Southeast.   “When we made our move everybody told us you had to wait a year to put a championship team together,” Rivers said before the Celtics practiced Friday in Orlando. “I didn’t buy into that. Neither did our guys, and we proved everybody wrong.”  “I’m not sure how, since they’ve gotten smaller, what sense that makes,” Rivers said. “They’ve just brought more talent and they’re a better team, to me, in the long run because they’ve added more talent.”  Boston is one of if not the best defensive team in the league as well as having fire power at nearly every position on the court to score.  The odds makers at Diamond have the Orlando Magic a -2 point favorite at home against the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics 14 game winning streak came most recently with a victory 84-80 at home over the Philadelphia 76ers moving them to 15-11-1 ATS for the season.  Shooting guard Ray Allen led Boston with 22 points 4 rebounds and 6 dimes.  Shaq chipped in 13 points and 9 boards while Kevin Garnett added 12 points and 7 rebounds.  Forward Paul Pierce rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points.  Vegas odds makers have the Boston Celtics +450 to win the 2010-2011 NBA Championship.

The Magic are coming off a victory 123-101 at home over the San Antonio Spurs breaking their winning streak and moving to 9-19-1 ATS for the season.  Center Dwight aka Superman Howard led the Magic with 29 points and 14 boards leading 6 other players in double digits as Orlando’s running game broke out big time.  Orlando is 11-5 SU in its last 16 games when playing at home against Boston and the total has gone UNDER in 11 of Orlando’s last 15 games when playing at home against Boston.  Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 190 1/2 points combined of the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic.

I predict the Magic will pull another one out of their hat and win at home!
