2019 NBA Championship Bets – Betting the NBA Finals Trends

Any number of factors go into handicapping a single game and a best-of-seven series. Current playing form, home court advantage and accurate injury reports would be a few things at the top of the list. Another aspect of a matchup that should be taken into consideration are any recent betting trends that can shed some light on a possible future outcomes.

Any betting trend on its own can be chalked up to pure coincidence. Just because the total went OVER in one team’s last nine games does not guarantee that it is going OVER in game number 10. Single trends are more like pieces of a puzzle. If you put enough pieces together, it will begin to create a better picture of what might happen in a particular game and possibly even a best-of-seven series.

The first two games will be played in Toronto before the series shifts to the West Coast for Games 3 & 4 in Oakland. From there, the series will alternate cities over the final three games.  The following is a look at the recent betting trends that could help paint the picture of how things play out.

Golden State Betting Trends

The Warriors bring a straight-up six-game winning streak into this series while going 3-2-1 against the spread. They have a 3-1-1 record over their last five games coming off a SU win.

Golden State has been idle since May 20 when it closed out the four-game sweep against Portland in the conference finals with a tight 119-117 road victory that ended as a PUSH. The Warriors are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games played on three or more days rest.

As far as Game 1 on Thursday night, Golden State is 5-15 ATS in its last 20 games played on a Thursday. Dominating the Western Conference for the past five seasons with five-straight conference titles, the Warriors are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team from the Eastern Conference and 7-18 ATS in their last 25 games against a team from the Atlantic Division.

One trend that stands out from all the rest is the Warriors’ SU 18-1 record in Game 1 of a playoff series going all the way back to the 2015 postseason. They are a perfect 12-0 SU in the opener of their last 12 series.

Betting Golden State on the total line this postseason has favored the OVER with 10 of their last 15 games going OVER the closing line. The total has gone OVER in six of its last eight games in the NBA Finals.

Toronto Betting Trends

The Raptors bring a four-game winning streak into Game 1 both SU and ATS. They have also covered the closing spread in four of their last five home games. Coming off a SU win, Toronto is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games.

The series against Milwaukee ended on May 25. The Raptors have failed to cover in eight of their last nine games coming off three or more days or rest.
