2011 NBA Eastern Conference Odds and Predictions: Favorites and Lines to Win the Eastern Conference

2011 NBA Eastern Conference Odds, Predictions and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win NBA East: The Eastern Conference may not have the depth of the Western Conference, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few championship contenders lurking among the eight potential playoff teams. In fact, the top heavy conference boasts three of the four favorites to win the title. Of those three teams, the Miami Heat (+165) and the Chicago Bulls (+225) deserve serious consideration from bettors when it comes time to picking the winner of the Eastern Conference.

The Miami Heat need no introduction. The trio of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh has been over-hyped and over-criticized all season long, but at the end of the day, the Heat have still compiled the second-best record in the Eastern Conference this far. At worst, they are going to enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed.

More importantly, Miami has already hit the low point of its season and have been better for it. The Heat chocked away a 22-point lead against the Orlando Magic, and followed it up with by botching the final possession in a loss to the Chicago Bulls. After a blowout loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Miami appeared on the verge of a complete collapse.

Instead of falling apart, Miami rallied. Bosh remembered that he is a power forward and has been a force in the paint ever since. James and Wade have been shooting incredible percentages, and the Heat have finally been beating quality teams. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and Wade and James give the Heat the best 1-2 scoring punch of any team in the playoffs.

Miami is a hot team with a trio of talented superstars. Just because a lot of critics want them to fail doesn’t mean they will. Bettors have to make smart decisions with their money, even if they aren’t necessarily popular.

The Bulls are a smart investment as well. Their 57-20 record is the best in the Eastern Conference, and they could catch the Spurs for the best record in the NBA. Led by point guard Derrick Rose, who is going to win the MVP this season, Chicago is going to have home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs. Bettors should know that the Bulls happen to have the best home record in the NBA at 34-5.

Chicago has all the pieces to make the NBA finals. Rose is arguably the top point guard in a point guard driven league. Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer are both quality big men, and Luol Deng is an efficient scoring option from the wing. Keith Bogans and Ronnie Brewer are underrated defenders on the perimeter, and center Omer Asik and forward Taj Gibson give the Bulls plenty of size off the bench.

In short, there is a reason the Bulls have compiled the best record in their conference. Rose is the glue that keeps the team running smoothly, and he has plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal. If everyone stays healthy, Chicago’s breakout season could end with a championship.
