2020 Boyd Gaming 300 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

2020 Boyd Gaming 300 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a busy weekend of racing action. Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300 will be the sandwich in a triple-header, and it will also be the first race of the year at a mile-and-a-half oval, the type of track where the cream typically rises to the top.

In 2019, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick and Cole Custer dominated on the track all season long, and their dominance extended to the mile-and-a-half tracks. However, all three graduated to the Cup Series for 2020, leaving the door wide open for a new group of drivers to establish themselves as the best of the best in the XFINITY Series.

While there are some question marks about which drivers will step up, especially this early in the year, we can narrow the list based on past performance and on the strength of their respective race teams.

With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at which drivers to target if you plan on betting on the XFINITY Series Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas this weekend.

Favorites to Bet

Justin Allgaier

With the Bell, Reddick and Custer all racing on Sunday’s in 2020, it leaves Allgaier as the driver in this weekend’s field who scored the most points at the 1.5-mile tracks last season. He actually got stronger at the mile-and-a-half ovals throughout 2019, finishing seventh or better in four of the final five races. During that stretch, he led 15 laps and picked up a Top 5 finish at Las Vegas in the fall. The veteran is probably your safest bet to be in the hunt for the win.

Chase Briscoe

He was a steady Top 10 threat at the mile-and-a-half tracks throughout last season, but Briscoe really came on strong down the stretch. He notched Top 5 finishes in three of the final five races at the 1.5-mile ovals, leading double-digit laps in all three of those starts. Briscoe actually led double-digit laps in five of the final six races overall to close 2019, putting himself on the short list of title favorites for this season. Look for him to battling for wins on a routine basis, starting Saturday at Las Vegas.

Value Bets

Austin Cindric

Cindric made major strides with his consistency last year, and he ended up cracking the Top 15 in eight of the 10 races at 1.5-mile tracks. More importantly, he seemed to flip a switch late last season, leading 38 laps and finishing third at Texas in the fall and leading 40 laps and finishing seventh in the season finale at Homestead. If that speed carries over, Cindric should be a legitimate contender for the win at Las Vegas.

Brandon Jones

He tends to be a checkers-or-wreckers-type driver, but Jones showed some serious muscle at the mile-and-a-half tracks last year. In fact, his five Top 5s in the 10 races rank as the most of any driver in the field this weekend. Jones closed 2019 by posting a 4.0 average finish in the final four races at 1.5-mile tracks, and during that stretch, he notched a third-place finish at Las Vegas and went to victory lane at Kansas. Throw in the elite equipment that Joe Gibbs Racing provides him, and Jones’ upside is undeniable.

Noah Gragson

Gragson survived the chaos at Daytona last weekend to pick up his first XFINITY win, and the youngster might not be done winning races. He was excellent at the 1.5-mile tracks as a rookie in 2019, logging seven Top 10s and six finishes of sixth or better in the 10 races. Gragson was particularly stout at Las Vegas, finishing third in the March race and sixth in the fall. I wouldn’t rule out back-to-back wins from Gragson to open 2020.

Sleeper Special

Daniel Hemric

Many NASCAR fans probably forgot about Hemric after a disappointing 2019 rookie campaign in the Cup Series that ultimately cost him his ride. However, he landed a part-time XFINITY gig with one of the best teams in the series, JR Motorsports. He will make his debut in the No. 8 this weekend, and the last time Hemric raced at the XFINITY level, he finished fourth or better in Top 5s, Top 10s and laps led. He could return with a bang at Las Vegas.
