2019 U.S. Cellular 250 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Iowa Speedway

2019 US Cellular 250 Odds2019 U.S. Cellular 250 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Iowa Speedway: While the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the Truck Series will visit Pocono Raceway this weekend, the XFINITY Series will head back to Iowa Speedway. It was just last month that the series visited the 0.875-mile short track, but with the track’s progressive banking helping to produce some great racing action, I don’t think drivers or fans will complain about the short turnaround time.

With the other national series not in town, the top XFINITY regulars will take center stage in Saturday evening’s U.S. Cellular 250. More importantly, they will be the overwhelming favorites if you are looking to put some money on the winner.

Christopher Bell and Cole Custer have been in their own league most of the year, and I really don’t see that changing Saturday at Iowa. If they do slip up, I have also pointed out a few drivers who could capitalize and should make for solid sleeper bets for the XFINITY Series U.S. Cellular 250.

2019 U.S. Cellular 250 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Iowa Speedway

Favorites to Bet

Christopher Bell

Tied for the series lead with five wins in 2019, Bell is a threat to win every time he gets behind the wheel. He’s been even tougher to beat at short tracks. He was dominant in his win in the June race at Iowa, leading 186 of the 250 laps, and he led 94 laps in his win here last July. Bell has led laps in all four of his Iowa starts overall, leading 90-plus laps three times. Don’t be surprised when he pulls off the season sweep and a three-peat at the track this weekend. If you are betting a favorite, most of your money should be on Bell.

Cole Custer

Custer is the other five-time winner in the XFINITY Series this year, and he was also the runner-up to Christopher Bell at Iowa in June, leading 59 laps. He has cracked the top 10 in his last four starts here, logging three top-five finishes and leading laps in three straight starts. In fact, Custer led a race-high 104 laps in the July race last season. I still rate Bell as the overall favorite, but Custer is not far behind.

Value Bets

Justin Allgaier

He is no stranger to making noise at short tracks, and Allgaier has been one of the best in the business at Iowa. He has cracked the top 10 in six of his seven starts here for JR Motorsports, and he has finished third or better in each of the last three races. He led 182 laps in a win at Iowa in June of last year, and he has led more than 100 laps in two of his last four starts at the track overall. He might be winless in 2019, but Allgaier could get the monkey off his back this weekend.

Chase Briscoe

Briscoe has quietly been one of the strongest short track performers this season, cracking the top 10 in all three races and posting a 7.0 average finish. He has also finished in the top 10 in both of his starts at Iowa, driving for two different race teams. Briscoe knows his way around Iowa and knows his way around short tracks in general. He should be near the front with a chance to make some noise Saturday.

John Hunter Nemechek

He already owns a win at Iowa in the Truck Series, and Nemechek will try to add an XFINITY Series win at the track this weekend. He has already shown plenty of speed here, notching a top-five finish in the July race a year ago for Chip Ganassi Racing. Earlier this year, Nemechek finished eighth in his first Iowa start for GMS Racing. It doesn’t seem to matter what series or what car. Nemechek can make some noise at Iowa.

Sleeper Special

Zane Smith

Smith made his XFINITY Series debut earlier this year, and he has wasted no time showcasing his potential. In six starts in the JR Motorsports No. 8 machine, he has logged four finishes of 11th or better. More importantly, his best career finish to date came at Iowa back in June when he started third and finished fifth. Smith will get his first chance to return to a track this weekend, and if his Iowa debut was a sign of things to come, he could be a great longshot bet.
