2019 NASCAR Racing Experience 300 Odds & Predictions: Favorites & Sleepers

NASCAR Racing Experience 300 Odds2019 NASCAR Racing Experience 300 Odds & Predictions – Favorites & Sleepers: The 2019 NASCAR XFINITY Series season kicks off this weekend with the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 at Daytona International Speedway. The season opener doesn’t have the aura of the Daytona 500, but any time a driver can get a win at NASCAR’s most famous track, the intensity usually jumps up a notch.

Surprisingly, there are only a couple of Cup stars pulling double duty this weekend, and while Brad Keselowski and Chase Elliott will definitely be on the short list of favorites, the pack racing at Daytona brings an element of unpredictability.

A series regular could definitely pick up the win Saturday, and this is also one of the best chances for an upset winner. Check out all of my favorite betting options for the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 at Daytona.

The Favorites

He’s the most accomplished driver in the field this weekend, and Brad Keselowski also happens to be one of the best restrictor-plate drivers in NASCAR today. His six Cup wins at plate tracks are the most among active drivers, and he’s also finished in the top five in his last three XFINITY starts at Daytona. There is no such thing as a safe pick at a plate track, but Keselowski is the closest thing you will find this weekend.

JR Motorsports will be using a driver rotation in the No. 8 machine, and Chase Elliott will draw the start this weekend. Not only is he a former winner at Daytona at the XFINITY level, but he’s one of the biggest names in the field. JR Motorsports also happens to have a dominant restrictor-plate program, so a second Daytona win could certainly be on tap for Elliott.

The Contenders

With three top-10s in the six restrictor-plate races over the last two years, Justin Allgaier is the most proven XFINTIY regular at the plate tracks. Driving for JR Motorsports doesn’t hurt either, and between his experience and his equipment, Allgaier should have everything he needs to contend for the win this weekend.

After notching his first XFINITY win in a limited schedule for Chip Ganassi Racing last year, John Hunter Nemechek will drive full time for GMS Racing in 2019. The move could pay immediate dividends because GMS has been stout at the restrictor-plate tracks, and the organization won the race at Talladega last year.

He is the defending winner of this weekend’s race, and Tyler Reddick ended up notching two top-10s in the three restrictor-plate races last year. Granted, he left JR Motorsports for Richard Childress Racing over the offseason, but RCR is the one organization that has a plate program that is on par with the one JR Motorsports has built. Reddick should still have the equipment he needs to contend, and he has already shown he can seal the deal.

The newcomer with the highest ceiling in 2019 has to be Noah Gragson. He landed a full-time ride with JR Motorsports, but he has already flashed his potential at the XFINITY level in a three-race stint with Joe Gibbs Racing last year. Gragson finished seventh or better in all three of his starts, picking up a top-five finish at Talladega in his lone restrictor-plate start. He may not have experience, but Gragson has loads of talent and elite equipment.

Sleeper Special

Most weeks, Garrett Smithley is lucky to run inside the Top 20, but he always seems to be able to take advantage of the level playing field that the plate tracks create. He has three top-10s in the six plate races over the last two seasons, including a top-five run last year. Among the many longshots, Smithley has at least shown the ability to run near the front and put himself in the mix.
