2019 Drive Sober 200 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Dover International Speedway

2019 Drive Sober 200 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Dover International Speedway: The first round of the NASCAR XFINITY Series playoffs comes to a close this weekend at Dover International Speedway. The one-mile, concrete oval will host Saturday’s Drive Sober 200, the second race of 2019 at the track known by many as “The Monster Mile.”

Back in May, Cole Custer and Christopher Bell put on a clinic at Dover, combining to lead 199 of the 200 laps. There were really no surprises in the race overall, and you have to go to part-timer Zane Smith in ninth to find a driver who would qualify as somewhat of a sleeper.

With the playoffs in full swing, I don’t expect anything to change this time around. The top XFINITY regulars from the top teams are under pressure to perform, so I recommend putting most of your money on the big names if you plan on betting the Drive Sober 200 at Dover this weekend.

2019 Drive Sober 200 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at Dover International Speedway

The Favorites

Christopher Bell

After finishing fourth in his Dover debut last spring, Bell has notched back-to-back wins at “The Monster Mile” in impressive fashion. He led 110 laps in his win here last fall, and he led 44 more laps in his victory in the spring. Bell has a series-best seven wins under his belt in 2019, and he has to be considered the frontrunner to earn win No. 8 this weekend while he completes a season sweep and a three-peat at Dover.

Cole Custer

Custer has posted a 6.2 average finish and three top-five runs in five starts at Dover, and he is only getting better. He led 38 laps in a runner-up effort last fall, and he led 155 of the 200 laps here in the May race earlier this year before a bad pit stop late in the race resulted in a fourth-place finish. Don’t be surprised if he finishes what he started at Dover back in the spring and picks up the win this weekend.

Justin Allgaier

He is still winless in 2019, but Allgaier has been one of the best in the business at Dover since joining JR Motorsports. He has made seven starts here for the No. 7 team, posting a 3.7 average finish and logging six top-five finishes. Allgaier has reeled off four straight finishes of third or better at Dover, leading laps in three straight and leading a race-high 104 laps in a win here last spring. He’s going to be a factor for the win.

Value Bets

Chase Briscoe

Although he finished a forgettable 19th in his Dover debut last fall, you need to keep in mind that Briscoe was driving for a mediocre Roush Fenway Racing team in that race. He has since made the jump to Stewart-Haas Racing, and his second trip to Dover ended with a top-five finish back in May. I expect a similar performance out of Briscoe this weekend, and he should at least have a puncher’s chance at picking up the win.

Austin Cindric

Cindric is enjoying a breakout 2019 season, and he has been trending towards a breakout performance at Dover. He has finished in the top 10 in all three of his starts here, compiling a 7.7 average finish. More importantly, Cindric finished a career-best sixth at Dover back in May, and he has six top-five finishes in the last nine races this year. With momentum on his side and a solid history at Dover, he could be a major player Saturday.

Sleeper Special

Harrison Burton

The 18-year-old only has five XFINITY starts under his belt, but Burton has already shown his potential. He has cracked the top 10 in three of his five starts, finishing fourth at Iowa and sixth at Richmond. Burton will be back behind the wheel of the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 machine this weekend, and JGR cars have always performed well at Dover. Don’t be surprised if the youngster is in the mix for the win this weekend.
