2019 CTECH 180 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets and Sleepers at Road America: While the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series takes a weekend off, the XFINITY Series will continue the road course-heavy portion of the schedule with a trip to Road America. Saturday’s CTECH 180 will be the third road course event in the last four races, and a road course event without many Cup stars can really shake things up.
At all levels of racing, certain drivers just excel at road courses while others struggle, including some drivers who are used to dominating at the typical ovals. Don’t be afraid to trust the road course studs this weekend when placing you bets for the CTECH 180 at Road America.
2019 CTECH 180 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets and Sleepers at Road America
Favorites to Bet
Austin Cindric
It has been a banner year for Cindric at the road courses. He has won the first two road races of the season, leading a combined 54 laps in the process, and he will try to stay perfect this weekend at Road America. Cindric has led laps in six of his seven road course starts in the XFINITY Series, finishing third or better in four of those races. He was actually leading at Road America last year when he had an engine issue, and I expect him to be back out front Saturday.
A.J. Allmendinger
Allmendinger will get another turn in the Kaulig Racing No. 10 Saturday, and in his first two starts for the team, he crossed the finish line second at Watkins Glen and finished third at Mid-Ohio. In five road course starts in the XFINITY Series, Allmendinger has never crossed the line worse than third. To top it off, he led 29 laps and went to victory lane in his only start at Road America.
Value Bets
Christopher Bell
He will be the first to admit that road racing isn’t his specialty, but Bell is a rare talent, and he is picking up the skill in a hurry. In fact, he has been the runner-up in both road course events this season, leading laps in both races. Bell should be a serious threat again this weekend.
Justin Allgaier
Allgaier is a three-time road course winner at the XFINITY level, and he is the defending winner at Road America. He has also finished third and sixth in the two road course events in 2019, and he has finished in the Top 10 in nine of his 12 road course starts for his current JR Motorsports team. Allgaier is one of the safest bets to be battling at the front Saturday.
Matt DiBenedetto
DiBenedetto has been the Cinderella story of the Cup Series, but he will get a chance to play the role of Goliath this weekend when he drives a Joe Gibbs Racing entry. He has showed his road racing prowess with Top 5 finishes in both road course events at the Cup level this year, and I expect him to make the most of his chance to pilot a JGR car at Road America.
Noah Gragson
He might be a rookie in the XFINITY Series, but Gragson is no stranger to road racing. He has four wins at road courses between the K&N East and K&N West Series, and in the XFINITY road races this year, he has a ninth-place finish at Watkins Glen and a Top 5 finish at Mid-Ohio.
Chase Briscoe
Briscoe is one of the most versatile drivers in the series, and he has a 7.0 average finish in four road course starts in the XFINITY Series. He has finished seventh or better in all three of his road course starts with his current No. 98 team, winning at The Roval last year.
Sleeper Special
Jeremy Clements
He might not have the best equipment, but Clements does have a strong background in road racing. He has finished 11th in the first two road course events of 2019, and the lone XFINITY Series win of his career came right here at Road America in 2017. Clements has pulled off the upset at this track once already. Why not take a chance that he can do it again?
