2015 Xfinity Series Odds & Free Picks – Friday’s Drive for the Cure 300 Favorites, Contenders and Sleepers

2015-Xfinity-Series-Odds-Free-Picks-Predictions2015 Xfinity Series Odds & Free Picks – Friday’s Drive for the Cure 300 Favorites, Contenders and Sleepers: The battle for the XFINITY Series championship is heating up as the teams head to Charlotte Motor Speedway for Friday night’s Drive for the Cure 300. The race is a companion event with the Cup Series, and as usual, several big names are pulling double duty and will be in the field Friday. Among the Cup regulars scheduled to race are Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski, who have combined for 11 XFINITY Series wins at Charlotte.

Of course, series regulars like Regan Smith and Chase Elliott have all been running well in recent weeks, and they are going to be more than willing to take a risk or two to win as they try to close in on point leader Chris Buescher. With that in mind, here is a closer look at the drivers to watch in Friday night’s XFINITY Series race at Charlotte.

2015 Xfinity Series Odds & Free Picks – Friday’s Drive for the Cure 300 Favorites, Contenders and Sleepers

The Favorites

His numbers at Charlotte in the XFINITY Series are incredible, and in 23 starts at the track, Kyle Busch has eight wins to go along with a 5.5 average finish. More impressively, Busch has finished sixth or better in 15 straight starts at the track, logging six wins and three second-place finishes during the stretch.

He is the defending winner of this weekend’s race, and Brad Keselowski is a three-time winner at Charlotte overall in the XFINITY Series. He has finished in the top 10 in 11 of his last 12 starts at the track, posting six finishes of third or better over the same span. In fact, Keselowski has five finishes of either first or second in his last eight starts here.

After taking the checkered flag in May, Austin Dillon will try for the season sweep at Charlotte this weekend. He owns a rock solid 6.8 average finish in five XFINTIY Series starts at the track, and he has finished second and first in two most-recent starts here. Dillon could be back in victory lane Friday night.

Charlotte has been one of his best tracks in any series, and Kasey Kahne is a former winner here in the XFINITY Series and four-time winner here at the Cup level. Kahne has finished in the top three in his two most-recent XFINITY starts at the track, including a third-place run in the May race earlier this year.

The Contenders

He will be back behind the wheel of a Joe Gibbs Racing machine this weekend, and Erik Jones has shown all year he can make some noise when given the chance. In 19 starts, he has nine top-five finishes, including two wins, and he has finished in the top 10 in eight of his last nine XFINTIY starts with JGR.

Defending series champ Chase Elliott has been one of the most consistent drivers in the series this year, recording 22 top-10s in 28 starts. One of those top-10s came at Charlotte in May, and Elliott has logged back-to-back top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile oval. Expect him to be within striking distance Friday night.

There is a reason Chris Buescher enters Friday night’s race as the point leader, and in 28 starts this year, he has only finished outside the top 15 twice. In fact, Buescher hasn’t finished outside the top 20 all year. In addition to his overall consistency, he has three straight finishes of 11th or better at Charlotte, including a career-best sixth-place finish last fall.

He is making a serious push to contend for the championship, and Regan Smith should continue his surge at Charlotte. He has eight straight top-10s coming into the race, winning twice during the stretch, and Smith finished fourth at Charlotte earlier this year. Smith was in victory lane last weekend at Dover, and he could be celebrating again Friday night.

The Sleeper

He made his Charlotte debut earlier this year, and Darell Wallace Jr. didn’t disappoint. He logged a fifth-place finish in the May race at the track, and he was the second-highest finishing series regular in the event. Wallace has been a bit hit and miss this year, but Charlotte is a track where he could make a legit push for a win.
