2013 Kansas Lottery 300 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions: Kyle Busch the Vegas Favorite

2013-Kansas-Lottery-300-Odds-Free-Picks-and-Predictions2013 Kansas Lottery 300 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions: Kyle Busch the Vegas Favorite: While the Cup Series will return to Kansas Speedway this weekend, the Nationwide Series will be making just its first stop at the 1.5-mile oval. As a result, the series regular will be at an even bigger disadvantage than normal as the big names pulling double duty already have some laps under their belt at Kansas in 2013. Of course, the same was true last year, but that didn’t stop Ricky Stenhouse Jr. from getting the best of the Cup regulars and getting to victory lane. Granted, he did catch a huge break when the dominant car of Paul Menard ran out of fuel on the final restart, but Stenhouse still managed to hold off the likes of Joey Logano and Kyle Busch to secure the victory.

The Favorites

The Penske Racing No. 22 team has been the best in the series this year, and this weekend at Kansas, Brad Keselowski gets another turn behind the wheel. He already has five nationwide wins in 2013, and he has posted an impressive 3.0 average finish in his last four series starts at Kansas. Keselowski actually won his most recent start at the track in 2011, and he has finished inside the top three in each of his last three starts at Kansas.

He heads to Kansas with a series-leading 10 Nationwide wins in 2013, and Kyle Busch could add to his win total this weekend. After all, he has finished eighth or better in six of his last seven starts at the track and has finished sixth or better in his last three starts. Busch is also a former winner at Kansas in the series and has finished third or better three times.

Although he hasn’t made a Nationwide starts at Kansas since 2008, Matt Kenseth was strong it just about all the starts he did make at the track. He has finished seventh or better in five of his six starts at Kansas, compiling an 8.8 average finish. Meanwhile, Kenseth has four top-five finishes at the track, including three straight, and has finished second twice in his last three starts.

The Dark Horses

While he has only made one start at Kansas, Austin Dillon was pretty darn impressive in his track debut last season. Dillon led a handful laps on his way to a second-place finish, and he had one he stronger cars all afternoon. Throw in the fact that both of his career Nationwide wins have come at 1.5-mile tracks with the same layout as Kansas, and he could easily improve on his stellar debut and end up in victory lane Saturday.

Since returning to the Nationwide Series full time in 2012, Elliott Sadler has been dialed in at Kansas. He finished what was at the time a career-best fourth at the track in 2011, but he improved on that result last season when he finished third. Sadler has been making a late push to win the Nationwide title, and a trip to Kansas could be a chance to get to victory lane and gain some sizeable ground.

Sleeper Special

In four of his last five Nationwide starts at Kansas, Paul Menard has cracked the top 10. He notched a career-best fourth-place finish at the track in 2011, and last year, it appeared he was heading to a win before he ran out of gas on the final restart. Prior to his tank going dry, Menard led a race-high 110 of the 204 laps.

Big Name to Avoid

While his 13 top-five finishes are tied for the most among series regulars, Brian Vickers could struggle to be a contender this weekend at Kansas. In five starts at the track, he has compiled a dismal 23.2 average finish and never finished in the top five. Worse yet, Vickers has failed to crack the top 25 in three of his five starts.
