2012 DRIVE4COPD 300 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites to Win and Sleepers to Watch

2012 DRIVE4COPD 300 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win the DRIVE4COPD 300: The season opener for the Nationwide Series doesn’t exactly have the aura of the Daytona 500, but that doesn’t stop plenty of big names from turning out in droves. A victory at Daytona International Speedway is still a coveted accomplishment, even if it doesn’t come in the “Great American Race.”

Last season, Tony Stewart did what he has been doing for the better part of a decade and won the Nationwide Series opener. He has pulled off the feat six times since the start of the 2005 season, although his latest victory was far from easy. Stewart needed a last lap charge that culminated with a last second pass of Clint Bowyer to secure the win.

The Favorites – 2012 DRIVE4COPD 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Needless to say, Tony Stewart has to be considered the favorite this weekend. Not only does he have six wins in the last seven Nationwide openers, but he has won the race four consecutive times. He has a series-leading 4.3 average finish at the track, as well. Stewart is still searching for a Daytona 500 victory, but he has had no problem dominating the competition in the in the 300-mile event.

He finished fourth in last year’s opener, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is no strange to finishing at the front at Daytona. Since the start of the 2002 season, Junior has six trips to Victory Lane at the track, with his most recent coming in July of 2010. In his 17 starts at the track during the stretch, he has finished seventh or better 12 times.

The Dark Horses – 2012 DRIVE4COPD 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin could both make some noise this weekend. Logano has finished 12th or better in five straight starts at Daytona, picking up a win at the track last July. Meanwhile, Hamlin went to Victory Lane at the track in the fall of 2008 and has three straight top-10 finishes.

They won’t exactly be teammates this weekend, but Kurt and Kyle Busch will still likely work together and could be doing so at the front of the field. Kurt is one of the most consistent plate track drivers in NASCAR today, and Kyle has been on a roll at the track in the Nationwide Series. He has finished seventh or better in eight of his last nine starts, finishing first or second four times during the stretch.

Sleeper Special – 2012 DRIVE4COPD 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

She is making plenty of headlines these days, but Danica Patrick is more than just hype. She made huge strides at Daytona last season, finishing 14th in the opener and 10th in the July race. Patrick’s new boss Tony Stewart has been showing her the ropes and teaching her how to work the draft. Given Stewart’s success at Daytona, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Patrick continue to improve.

He is with a new team, but David Ragan has been running well at the superspeedways since jumping behind the wheel. He has four straight top-10 finishes at Daytona in the Nationwide Series, and he has won at Talladega. Ragan is looking to prove himself after losing his ride with Roush Fenway Racing, and he will be more motivated than ever to showcase himself, especially at one of his best tracks.

Driver to Avoid – 2012 DRIVE4COPD 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Despite winning the Daytona 500 last year, Trevor Bayne has yet to find the same success at Daytona in the Nationwide Series. In fact, he has never even finished in the top-five. He has just one top-10 finish in four career starts, and he has finished outside the top 20 in his other three attempts.
