2011 Pure Michigan 400 Breakdown – Beating the Odds: Who to Bet On

2011 Pure Michigan 400 Betting Odds Breakdown – Who to Bet On and How to Win Money on the Pure Michigan 400: Road courses are without a doubt some of the most unique tracks on the schedule. As a result, drivers that are often afterthoughts most weeks are serious contenders at Infineon. Savvy bettors can take advantage of these mediocre drivers that excel at the road courses to cash in on some favorable odds. Looking at this weekend’s lines, there a few names that stand out.

At 30/1 odds to win, Kasey Kahne should definitely be on the radar of bettors. After all, he is a former winner at Michigan, and he has finished second at the track on three occasions as well. Kahne has always run well at the 2.0-mile tracks, making him a threat to win this weekend despite what the oddsmakers may seem to think.

Another driver getting 35/1 odds to win this weekend is Joey Logano. He has finished in the top 10 in three of his last four starts at the Michigan, including a pair of seventh-place efforts. He has only managed four top-five finishes in 2011, but three have come in the last six weeks. With a little momentum on his side heading to one of his best tracks, Logano could hit it big for bettors this weekend.

After struggling at Michigan throughout his career, Paul Menard turned a corner this season. He finished a career-best fourth at the track, and it is no coincidence that the strong performance came in his first start at MIS with Richard Childress Racing. The organization has put Menard in the mix for a spot in the Chase, and it could also put him in Victory Lane this weekend. At 40/1 odds, bettors need to get in on the action.

He enters this weekend’s race as the overall favorite at 7/1 odds, but Jimmie Johnson has never won at Michigan. He hasn’t even had a top-five finish since 2007, and he has just two top-five efforts in 19 starts. Johnson has finished outside the top 10 in his last two starts at MIS, and he simply isn’t worth the risk at his current odds.

Although he has two wins at Michigan in his career, Kurt Busch is a little inconsistent to be getting 9/1 odds to win. He has finished as high as third in his last seven starts at the track, but he also had four finishes outside the top 20 during the stretch. Busch does have potential to win Sunday, but the payoff simply isn’t high enough given his sporadic results.

Trevor Bayne’s shocking victory in the Daytona 500 is going to be remembered for a long time, but he hasn’t had a lot of success since the win. The one exception was a solid 16th-place run in his debut at Michigan in June. Bayne is driving Roush Fenway Racing equipment this weekend, and Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle have all driven the same equipment to Victory Lane at MIS on multiple occasions. At 200/1 odds, bettors might as well gamble that he will pull off another upset.
