2011 Sprint All Star Race Picks: Betting on Underdogs for Big Payoffs

2011 NASCAR Sprint All Star Race Picks: Betting on Underdogs for Big Payoffs – How to Bet on the 2011 All Star Race: When $1million is up for grabs in a winner-take-all format, drivers will do just about anything to get to Victory Lane. NASCAR’s All-Star Race has provided plenty of fireworks over the years and plenty of surprise finishes. The unpredictable nature of the event is even more reason for bettors to gamble on a dark horse pick this weekend. After all, the driver that wins is going to get a huge payoff. Why shouldn’t bettors try to do the same?

One driver that has a legitimate shot at providing that sizeable payout is David Reutimann. At 28/1 odds, bettors will be hard pressed to find a more proven driver at Charlotte with more favorable odds. In his last six starts at the track, he has finished 15th or better five times, including four top-10 efforts. More importantly, Reutimann won at Charlotte in 2009 and hasn’t finished outside the top 15 since at the track since the victory. In fact, he has a solid 7.5 average finish in his last four starts at Charlotte.

Reutimann’s success at Charlotte is a reflection of his comfort level with 1.5-mile tracks. The layout has seemed to bring out the best in him throughout his career, and both of Reutimann’s victories at the Cup level have come at 1.5-mile tracks. In his two victories, he has outdueled Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon, proving that he isn’t going to be intimidated by even the biggest names in NASCAR. If he has a fast enough car, Reutimann is more than capable of closing the deal.

Another driver with plenty to offer this weekend is Jamie McMurray. His Overall numbers at Charlotte aren’t great, but he has had a lot of big moments at Charlotte throughout his career. He won his first career Cup race at the track in just his second start, and he added a second win during the fall event last season. At 25/1 odds, bettors have to like their chances with a two-time Charlotte winner.

Bettors have even more reason to be optimistic about McMurray because of his performance last season. Not only did he win the fall event, but he finished second in the May race as well. McMurray’s move to Earnhardt Ganassi Racing prior to the start of the 2010 season clearly made a major impact at Charlotte. In fact, no driver was more impressive at Charlotte last season than McMurray. Bettors need to throw some money his way this weekend in case the momentum continues.
