Sour Cream Dips at The Glen this Sunday, August 14th at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks with Marcos Ambrose having been installed as the +450 favorite to win the 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen .

For the third week in a row, the Cup Series visits a track that approaches 2.5 miles in length with the annual trip to Watkins Glen International. However, the comparisons between The Glen and Indianapolis and Pocono end there. The seven-turn road course is a completely different animal than the two oval tracks that preceded it pm the schedule.  As a result, there will be a lot of new names for bettors consider before the green flag drops Sunday.

Last season, Juan Pablo Montoya dominated the field on his way to his first career victory at Watkins Glen and his second career road course win. He led 74 of the 90 laps, and he was unchallenged in the closing laps. Kurt Busch ended up second, and eventual third-place finisher Marcos Ambrose was the only driver to really test Montoya during the afternoon. A.J. Allmendinger had an impressive run as well, finishing fourth. Montoya, Ambrose and Allmendinger all have a background in road racing, and it showed on the track.

The Favorites – 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen Lines and Odds

Defending race winner Juan Pablo Montoya has finished sixth or better in his last three starts at Watkins Glen. More importantly, he absolutely had the field covered in his 2010 victory. If Montoya’s car this weekend handles even half as good as it did one year ago, he will have a good shot at making it back-to-back wins at The Glen.

Although he came up short of Victory Lanelast year, Marcos Ambrose has been excellent at Watkins Glen in all three of his starts. He has finished third or better in each outing, compiling a series-best 2.7 average finish. Ambrose is arguably the best road racer in NASCAR right now, and it is only a matter of time before he breaks through and notches a win at the track.

No driver has won more races at Watkins Glen than Tony Stewart. All five of his victories at the track have come in his last nine starts, and he hasn’t finished worse than 11th during the stretch. Stewart has been next to unstoppable in recent years, finishing either first or second six times in his last seven starts.

The Dark Horses – 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen Betting Odds and Free Tips

One of the most improved road course performers in recent years has been Kurt Busch. He has finished in the top 10 in his last three starts at Watkins Glen, including a second-place effort last season. Earlier this year, he scored his first career win at the road course in Sonoma. Busch has a legitimate shot at completing a season sweep of the road courses this weekend.

Since a shaky debut, current point leader Carl Edwards has been on the mark at Watkins Glen. He has finished in the top 10 in five straight starts at the track, including finishes of third and fifth in his last two starts. Edwards is still looking for a road course win, but since he has already established himself as a consistent top-five threat, a victory could come sooner rather than later.

Kyle Busch completed a season sweep of the road courses with a win at Watkins Glen in 2008. He has continued to run well at the road course and enters this weekend’s race with five straight top-10 finishes at the track. Not to mention the fact that he has  two top-five finishes in his last three starts at The Glen.

The Sleepers – 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen Vegas Odds and Free Picks

There have been four first-time winners this season, and A.J. Allmendinger could become the fifth this weekend. He has never finished outside the top 15 in three starts at Watkins Glen, and last season, he took a big step forward. Allmendinger qualified and finished in the top five in 2010, and he could be a surprise factor for the win once again.

His equipment is questionable, but Robby Gordon has as much talent when it comes to road racing as any other driver in the series. He is a former winner at Watkins Glen, and he has finished in the top five in five of his last nine starts at the track. Driving for a single-car team doesn’t help his chances, but Gordon could still make some noise Sunday.

Big Names to Avoid – 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen Odds and Predictions

He is improving as a road racer, but Jimmie Johnson has yet to figure out Watkins Glen. He has just three top-five finishes and just four top 10s in nine career starts at the track. More importantly, he has never won. Johnson has finished outside the top 10 in his last two starts at The Glen, and the five-time champ could be just another driver this weekend.

Despite a fifth-place finish at Watkins Glen in 2009, Greg Biffle is a risky pick this weekend. In seven starts at the road course, he has finished outside the top 20 on five occasions and outside the top 30 four times. Biffle’s 25.1 average finish at the track tells the tale, and it isn’t a pretty one.
