2011 Coke Zero 400 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites to Win and Drivers to Watch

2011 Coke Zero 400 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win Coke Zero 400: NASCAR betting odds to win the 2011 Coke Zero 400 this Saturday night, July 2nd at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Florida have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks and the online bookies with Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr having been installed as the +900 favorites to win the 2011 Coke Zero 400.

For the second time this season, bettors will get to enjoy the nightmare that is Daytona International Speedway. Multi-car wrecks are the norm, and many a favorite has been caught up in an accident they had nothing to do with. Despite the dangers of restrictor-plate racing, bettors can also look at the track as an opportunity. While wrecks can take out big names, they can also open the door for underdogs to emerge victorious.

Last July, it was all about Kevin Harvick. He sat on the pole for the race, led the most laps and held off the field during a furious finish to pick up the win. His biggest competitor turned out to be his own teammate Clint Bowyer, but a late spin knock Bowyer out of contention. From there, Harvick was able to hold off Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon to earn the trip to Victory Lane.

Earlier this year, Trevor Bayne became a NASCAR sensation by winning the Daytona 500 in his first attempt, becoming the youngest winner of the event in process. Wrecks, blown motors, and a penalty on David Ragan opened the door for Bayne. To his credit, Bayne was able to hold off Carl Edwards and others during a green-white-checkered finish to secure the historic win.

2011 Coke Zero 400 – The Favorites

Defending race winner Kevin Harvick has been the dominant force at the plate tracks the last two seasons. He has led the most laps in two of the last three races at Daytona, and he has finished seventh or better in five of his last six superspeedway starts. At an unpredictable track, Harvick has been one of the few steady forces.

No driver is running better entering this weekend’s race than Kurt Busch, and he has always been strong at Daytona. He has finished in the top 10 in seven of his last eight starts at the track, including a fifth-place finish earlier this year. Busch is coming off his first career road course win last weekend, and he could add his first career plate track win to his resume this Saturday.

His feud with Brian Vickers is grabbing headlines, but Tony Stewart could remain the talk of NASCAR with a win this weekend. He is a three-time winner of the July event at Daytona, with all three wins coming since 2005. Stewart’s bad luck in the Daytona 500 is well known, but he has been just fine under the lights.

2011 Coke Zero 400 – The Dark Horses

A late wreck in the season opener cost Dale Earnhardt Jr. a shot at a Daytona 500 win, but he has still been one of the top drivers at the 2.5-mile track lately. He finished second and fourth at Daytona last season, and he is a two-time winner at the track in his career. Despite the long winless drought, Junior is always a threat to get to Victory Lane at the plate tracks.

Although he is known for his road racing skills, Juan Pablo Montoya is becoming quite the accomplished plate racer as well. He has finished in the top 15 in four of his last five starts at Daytona and in the top 10 in three of his last four. Montoya finished a career-best sixth at the track earlier this year, and Saturday night could be his breakout opportunity on an oval track.

2011 Coke Zero 400 – Sleepers Specials

While Trevor Bayne was the talk of Daytona after his surprising win, it could have easily been Regan Smith grabbing the attention. He was one of the dominant cars all afternoon, and he was in the mix for the win until a late wreck. Even with a damaged car, Smith was able to rally to finish in the top 10. If he keeps his fenders straight, he could finish what he started in February.

Despite being known as only a road racer, Robby Gordon has actually been a consistent performer at Daytona the last few years. He has finished 16th or better, in eight of his last 11 starts at the track and always seems to stay out of trouble. At a track like Daytona, Gordon could be in perfect position to capitalize if a big wreck breaks out late in the race.

2011 Coke Zero 400 – Big Names to Avoid

In February of 2008, Ryan Newman won the prestigious Daytona 500. However, the track has been a nightmare for him since the victory. He has a 29.0 average finish in his last six starts at the track, finishing 20th or worse in all six starts. Former winner or not, Newman’s struggles are tough to overlook.

Although he may have a bright future in NASCAR, Joey Logano has yet to figure out Daytona. He has finished 19th or worse in all five starts at the track, compiling a 26.8 average finish. Logano has flashed plenty of talent in his brief career, but he has looked nothing but lost at Daytona.
