Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Boston College Eagles 2010 NCAAF Week 5 Odds, Preview, Predictions

Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Boston College Eagles 2010 NCAAF Week 5 Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Head football Coach Brian Kelly will try to end the losing streak as he takes the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the road to play the Boston College Eagles on Saturday night at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.  The Irish have lost 3 straight since their opening win against Purdue and first year coach Kelly will look to turn it around against the only other Catholic school in the FBS.  “At 1-3, the food doesn’t taste good. It’s not as enjoyable to hang around my family, (and) I love my family,” Kelly said. “Nothing feels good when you’re 1-3. That’s just the life we live in as coaches and players. We’re 1-3 together.”  Head football Coach Frank Spaziani knows how important the rivalry is for BC and the quality of the team they are playing regardless of the record.  “They have all the pieces in the puzzle there,” Spaziani said. “They just ran into a little bit of a buzz saw early on with a new regime. So we’re looking for a very good football team coming in here and a very hungry team.”  Vegas odds makers have the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a -3 point favorite on the road against the Boston College Eagles.

Notre Dame got whipped at home last week 37-14 by the Stanford Cardinals.   Quarterback Dayne Crist was 24 for 43 for 298 yards a touchdown and a pick hitting Theo Riddick 7 times for 71 yards and the Irish’s only touchdown.  Running back Armando Allen was held to 49 yards on 15 carries leaving Notre Dame 99th in the FBS in rushing.  The Irish will need to become a more balanced team for long term success.  Vegas odds makers have the Notre Dame Fighting Irish +15000 odds to win the 2011 BCS National Championship.

Boston College got shut out last week 19-0 at home against ACC foe Virginia Tech leaving them at 2-1 for the season.  Running back Montel Harris had his second 100 yard game of the season carrying the ball 19 times for 110 yards.  Notre Dame is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Boston College and the total has gone UNDER in 5 of Boston College’s last 7 games when playing Notre Dame.  Odds makers at Bodog have the over/under for the total score at 46 points combined of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Boston College Eagles.
