Navy Midshipmen versus San Diego State Aztecs 2010 Poinsettia Bowl Odds, Preview, Predictions

Navy Midshipmen versus San Diego State Aztecs 2010 Poinsettia Bowl Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Head football coach Ken Niumatalolo will lead his Navy Midshipmen to the city with the largest Naval Base on the west coast to Qualcomm Stadium to take on the hometown San Diego State Aztecs on Thursday night at 8:00 PM ET in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.  Navy comes into the game 9-3 good for 1st among FBS Independents while the Aztecs are 8-4 good for 3rd in the Mountain West Conference.  San Diego is known for its beautiful climate but this week heavy rains have had the field under water and it could be a bit sloppy for this contest against two teams that like to run the ball.  “We have every intention of kicking off at 5:06 p.m. PST,” executive director Bruce Binkowski told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “The stadium grounds crew work will work round the clock to make sure they get in the game.”    “That’s part of football and part of what we’ve all grown up and played in that weather and had fun in that weather,”  Aztec head football coach Brady Hoke said.  Vegas odds makers have the San Diego State Aztecs a -3 1/2 point favorite at Qualcomm Stadium against the Navy Midshipmen.

Navy was a 31-17 victor in their latest game against Army in Philadelphia moving them to 6-4 ATS for the season. Quarterback Ricky Dobbs completed 6 of 11 passes for 186 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick also running the ball 20 times for 54 yards and 3 fumbles.  “Those turnovers drive you crazy,” Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said, “but that’s Ricky.” “He’s a great player. He runs that offense really well,” Hoke said of Dobbs. “He looks like a great leader and he keeps the ball more than anyone on that offense, by far. He’s a great runner and can throw it around a little bit as well. He’ll be a big challenge for us.”

San Diego State is also coming off a victory 48-14 over UNLV to move to 6-4-1 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Ryan Lindley completed 22 of 30 passes for 338 yards and 4 touchdowns hitting DeMarco Sampson with 6 balls for 128 yards and two scores.  San Diego State is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games.  Odds makers at JustBET have the over/under for the total score at 59 points combined of the Navy Midshipmen and San Diego State Aztecs.

I predict an Aztec victory!
