Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly had his team ready to play last week as Notre Dame came out and crushed Temple by a score of 49-16 at home. Notre Dame easily covered the -18 spread against Temple and looked impressive doing it.

Notre Dame was firing on all cylinders offensively as they had 606 total yards on offense including 422 in the running game and 184 in the air. The running game was particularly impressive as junior running back Josh Adams rushed for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns while junior Dexter Williams ran for 124 yards and 1 touchdown.

Defensively, Notre Dame was stout last week giving up just 330 total yards to Temple. The Irish defense allowed just 85 yards on the ground and 245 in the passing game. The run defense was much improved from last season’s unit that gave up a whopping 182.4 yards per game that was 71st in the nation.

The Georgia Bulldogs come into this showdown Saturday night also sporting a 1-0 record after they opened their season with an impressive 31-10 win at home over Appalachian State. The Bulldogs covered the -13 point spread and lived up to the preseason hype that they could have one of the top 5 defenses in the country this season.

The Bulldogs defense returned all 11 starters from last season’s unit that finished 16th in total defense nationally. Much is expected from the unit this season and they didn’t disappoint in their opener. The unit only allowed 284 total yards including 136 against the run and 148 against the pass. The Bulldogs also won the turnover battle with a plus two against Appalachian State.

On the other side of the ball, Georgia was solid offensively. The unit totaled 368 yards including 221 on thr ground and 147 thru the air. The running game is how Georgia will win their games this season to go with their dominant defense and the tandem of senior running back Nate Chubb and senior Sony Michael looked good in the opener. Chubb ran for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns while Michael ran for 87 yards and 1 touchdown.
