2011 Big East Football Predictions, Odds and Free Picks – Odds to Win 2011 Big East Football Championship

2011 Big East Football Odds, Free Picks and Expert Predictions – Big East Championship Vegas Odds and Vegas Betting Lines: Vegas odds to win the 2011 Big East Conference College Football Championship are now out and updated on NSAwins.com and vegas linemakers have made the South Florida Bulls and West Virginia Mountaineers the +250 favorite to win the 2011 Big East College Football Conference Championship followed by the Pittsburgh Panthers at +350 odds and Cincinnati Bearcats at +500 odds.

The Big East has taken a lot of criticism in recent years for its performance as a whole, and there is no doubt that the eight-team league has been the least impressive of the major conferences. It has gotten so bad, that some experts are calling for the Big East to lose its automatic bid to a BCS bowl game. Criticism aside, the conference winner still earns a trip to one of the premier bowl games in the nation in 2011-12.

With the TCU Horned Frogs set to join the Big East next season, the current eight teams have one last chance to establish themselves as the team to beat in conference play. Last season, the conference was as wide open as any in the nation, and it could be the same this year. Top to bottom, there just haven’t been any programs capable of separating themselves on a consistent basis.

The Favorites – 2011 Big East Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

With Geno Smith under center, West Virginia has the best quarterback in the conference in their corner. The Mountaineers have installed a spread attack for the upcoming year in order to take full advantage of Smith’s arm. Assuming the offense can at least come close to living up to its potential, the West Virginia defense should do the rest. The unit has been consistently one of the best in the nation the last few years, ranking third overall last season. The Mountaineers should win the Big East, and there is a chance they could run the table in 2011-12.

South Florida may not have NFL-caliber players up and down its roster, but the Bulls are an experienced bunch. Quarterback B.J. Daniels is one of the more seasoned signal callers in the conference and could be headed for a breakout junior season. The defense is becoming a force as well thanks to solid recruiting by head coach Skip Holtz. The Bulls have too much speed for many of the Big East teams, and they could be looking at a conference title if they can find a way to defeat West Virginia.

Potential Sleepers – 2011 Big East Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

Losing their head coach and starting quarterback had disastrous consequences for the Cincinnati Bearcats last season. However, most of the problems came on the defensive side of the ball. The bearcats return starting QB Zach Collaros, along with their top rusher and receiver, to an offense that led the Big East in most categories. The defense returns 11 starters, but that may or may not be a good thing based on what the unit did last season. If the defense can make some strides, the Bearcats could sneak up and win the conference. That being said, a few bumps in the road is a more likely outcome.

Although Pittsburgh will have to replace a couple of talented players on offense this year, the Panthers are still one of the deeper teams in the conference. More importantly, new philosophies on both sides of the ball are being implemented to better utilize the talent currently on the Panthers’ roster. With the toughest games on Pittsburgh’s schedule being played at home in 2011-12, there is a chance that the Panthers could win the conference. It is going to come down to how quickly the players adapt to the new systems and how effective the systems actually end up being.

Team to Avoid – 2011 Big East Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

The wide-open nature of the Big East was on full display last season when Connecticut snuck up and won the conference crown. However, a repeat performance for the Huskies is going to be very difficult after losing their coach, quarterback and running back. The defense remains solid, especially up front, by the Huskies simply lost too many key components at the same time to capture the Big East title this year.
