This year’s WCC Tournament will be of added signficance to both teams as neither team is a lock to be invited to the NCAA Tournament when the 2011 NCAA Tournament Bracket Picks are announced by the selection committee on Sunday, March 13th. St Mary’s has a decent RPI of 49 to warrant an at-large bid but Gonzaga’s RPI is just 65 and that probably won’t be good enough to earn an at-large bid. It’s safe to say that both teams will need to reach the 2011 WCC Tournament Championship Game to even be in the discussion for an at-large bid. Other teams capable of making a run at the WCC Tournament title include Santa Clara(+500 odds to win), San Francisco(+500 odds to win) and Portland(+800 odds to win).
