He is the defending winner of the tournament, and with his victory in 2008, Nadal has won at the All-England Club in two of the past three seasons. With 10 Grand Slam titles and counting, he is quickly establishing himself as one of the dominant players of his era. His primary competition has been Roger Federer – the man he beat to win Wimbledon in 2008.
2011 Men’s Wimbledon Championships – The Dark Horses
He finally lost in 2011 when Roger Federer defeated him in the semifinals of the French Open, but Novak Djokovic still brings a 43-1 record this season into Wimbledon. Although historically he has been at his best on hard surfaces, Djokovic is playing at a level he has never reached before in his career. He has shown he can play well on the biggest stages, and he rolled through the field at the Australian Open to win his second career Grand Slam. Momentum alone should make him a threat at the All-England Club.
The last time an English player won at the All-England Club was 1968. Andy Murray will look to end that streak by finally getting the Grand Slam monkey off his back. Murray has been a staple of the semifinals at all the big events, but Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been waiting to cut him down. Still, Murray is clearly a top-four player in the world right now, and a breakthrough could come at any time. At the very least, Murray will have the crowd in his corner throughout the tournament.

Although he has never won a Grand Slam event, Richard Gasquet has made a few deep runs at Wimbledon in the past. He reached the fourth round on two occasions at the All-England Club, and he was a semifinalist in 2007. Gasquet has six singles titles in his career, and he has been playing some decent tennis in the Grand Slam events this year. He made it to the third round in the Australian Open and the fourth round in the French Open. The top four players aren’t likely to be upset, but Gasquet is one player that is playing consistent enough to pull off an upset.
