2011 Premier League Preview – How Will it Go Down?

The Premier League means different things to the twenty different clubs battling it out in this season’s challenge. For some, it is about finishing in the top four, for others it is about avoiding relegation, and for Manchester United, it’s about winning the EPL trophy. Yes, the Red Devils are expected to repeat their last season magic and widely predicted to reign supreme this time too. Manchester City could give them a run for the title crown, but Sir Alex Ferguson’s boys are looking unbeatable (by an English club) at the moment. The odds for a Man U win at Bodog and Intertops stand 7/4 and 13/8 respectively.

EPL 2011/2012 will also see Welsh team Swansea City competing against the big names, with manager Brendan Rogers bringing to the table what he has learnt from the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho back when he was managing Chelsea. Whether they will prevail over Wolves, Rovers or Norwich City is tough to say, but if their last term Championship performance is anything to go by, they stand a good chance of shocking their top-tier opponents.

2011 Premier League Favourites: Who could round up the top three?

Manchester United: Their stunning comeback to win against Man C in the Community Shield, and never-say-die attitude make Manchester United the firm favourites to win the Premier League. With Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones and David de Gea alongside Hernandez, Rooney, and Nani– the side, even sans Paul Scholes, looks poised to overcome all odds.

Manchester City: Manchester City could finish in second spot, with stiff resistance from Chelsea under Andre Villas-Boas. The richest club in the league has the likes of David Silva, Mario Balotelli and new striker Sergio Aguero to make an impact. The side is a brilliant one, even better than Man U some may feel, which adds more pressure on City to deliver when it matters most. The odds for a Man C win at Bodog and Intertops stand at 9/2 and 4/1 respectively.

Chelsea: Lampard, Drogba, Cole and Terry are all world class players, but their fitness levels and ageing bodies do not inspire much confidence as far as the gruelling EPL marathon goes. Adding to their woes is Micheal Essien, who will be out probably till the end of the year on account of an ankle injury. Fernando Torres will need to step up to the plate and prove why he is worth £50 million pounds while Romelu Lukaku and Danile Sturridge will be the young blood to watch out for. At Bodog, the odds for a Chelsea win are 5/2 while Intertops gives the club 11/4 winning odds.

2011 Premier League Free Tips: Liverpool vs. Arsenal – Who will have the last laugh?

Neither Arsenal nor Liverpool are expected to pose a big challenge to Manchester United in the quest for the title, so it really comes down to who will finish in the top four. Having said that, expectations from the two clubs to perform well are high. Liverpool’s excellent striker signings in the form of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez bodes well for the side while Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Alexander Doni, Dirk Kuyt and Stewart Downing are other players that can make a big impact on the field. But Steven Gerrard’s absence will be a blow to the side, and could take them off to a not-so-impressive start.
The odds for a Liverpool win at Bodog and Intertops are 9/1 and 10/1 respectively.

An acid test awaits Arsene Wenger, and should Gunners fail to make it to the top five at least, they will never be able to live down the barrage of criticism that will most certainly be hurled at them. The biggest problem lies with the future of Cesc Fabregas at Emirates – if he stays on and display his prowess on the field, with support from new signing Gervinho, Jack Wilshere and some efficient goal-keeping from Szczesny, then Arsenal could re-capture their lost glory. The odds for an Arsenal win stand at 8/1 and 10/1 at Bodog and intertops respectively.

2011 Premier League Predictions: Will Spurs finish in sixth spot?

The general consensus is that Tottenham Hotspur will round up the EPL top six. They are not lacking first-rate players – on a good day, Gareth Bale, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon can demolish the opposition. But far too many draws last season, an unhappy Modric itching for a transfer, and overall poor form are some concerning factors. The odds for a Spurs win stand at 50/1 at both Bodog and Intertops.

2011 Premier League Tips: Escaping relegation

Wigan Athletic missed relegation by a whisker last season. They face a tough task this season too, and are most likely to finish at the bottom of the table. Wolverhampton, Norwich City, Queen’s Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and possibly Swansea City could join Wigan in the bottom five.
