2011 SEC Football Predictions and Free Picks – Odds to Win 2011 SEC Football Championship

2011 SEC Football Odds, Free Picks and Expert Predictions – SEC Championship Vegas Odds and Vegas Betting Lines: Vegas odds to win the 2011 SEC Conference College Football Championship are now out and updated on NSAwins.com and vegas linemakers have made Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide the +170 favorite to win the 2011 SEC College Football Conference Championship with Alabama the current -150 favorite to capture the SEC’s West Division and the Florida Gators listed as a +175 favorite to stake claim to the the SEC’s East Division.

The SEC has cast an unshakable shadow over the college football world the last five years, winning five consecutive national titles and establishing itself as the conference where the most talented athletes come to play. The combination of size and speed seen on both sides of the ball in the SEC is unmatched by any of the other conferences. The SEC has more than earned its reputation as the best in the nation.

The SEC’s status isn’t likely to change in 2011-12. From Heisman candidates to national title favorites, the conference once again figures to the top-to-bottom toughest around. The last two national champs have come from SEC West, and it appears to be the better of the two divisions once again. Whoever emerges from the SEC West and the conference in general will likely be in the mix for the BCS crown.

The Favorites – 2011 SEC Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

Head coach Nick Saban wasted little time in turning Alabama back into a national power, and the Crimson Tide are loaded up for another title run. Defense has been the calling card for the Tide under Saban, and 10 starters return from last year’s team, including one of the best linebacking cores in the nation. Alabama does lose quarterback Greg McElory, wide receiver Julio Jones and running back Mark Ingram, but four offensive lineman are back, along with Trent Richarson – one of the top backup rushers in the nation. Alabama will pound the rock, shutdown opponents on defense, and be in the mix for an SEC and national title.

Year in and year out, Louisiana State finds a way to stay in the national title hunt despite a mediocre offense. The Tigers figure to win with defense once again in 2011-12, led by two of the best defensive ends in the nation and two shutdown corners. Under Les Miles, LSU has been relentless at rushing the passer, and even the best offenses have had trouble putting up points on the Tigers. Jordan Jefferson is a question mark at quarterback, but LSU should have no problem winning with a ground game led by four returning offensive lineman and an elite defense. An out-of-conference contest with Oregon and a conference clash with Alabama will likely determine whether or not LSU plays for a national title.

Potential Sleepers – 2011 SEC Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

After winning the SEC East last season, the South Carolina Gamecocks have a chance to achieve even more in 2011-12. Sophomore running back Marcus Lattimore is a Heisman candidate, and wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey may be the best in the conference. Quarterback Stephen Garcia has had his ups and down, but the senior does bring plenty of experience to the table. On defense, shutdown corner Stephen Gilmore leads the secondary, and a great defensive line is only bolstered by No. 1 recruit Jadeveon Clowney. The linebackers are a bit suspect, but the Gamecocks should easily win the SEC East once again and maybe even more if they can get by Alabama.

After a 10-3 season, the Arkansas Razorbacks are the wildcard in the stout SEC West. Ryan Mallet and his big arm and big ego are gone, but his replacement Tyler Wilson is no slouch. Last season against Auburn, Wilson fired four touchdowns in relief of an injured Mallet. Running back Knile Davis and three senior wide outs should help ensure that Bobby Petrino’s offense is once again among the best in the nation. However, the play of the defense will ultimately determine how well the Razorbacks do in 2011-12. The unit improved last season, they have a long way go to compete with LSU, Alabama and South Carolina.

Team to Avoid – 2011 SEC Football Odds, Predictions and Preview

Coming off a national title, the Auburn Tigers are probably going to crash back down to earth in 2011-12. Defensive tackle Nick Fairley – the anchor of the defense – is gone, along with quarterback Cam Newton. The Heisman Trophy winning QB accounted for 50 touchdowns last season and almost single handedly bailed out the Tigers on several occasions. Auburn will be back in the long run, but the loss of Newton is going to be too much to overcome this season.
