2013-5-hour-ENERGY-200-Odds-and-Predictions2013 5-Hour Energy 200 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions: Kyle Busch Favored at Vegas Sportsbooks: The Nationwide Series heads to Dover International Speedway this Saturday for the 5-Hour Energy 200, and with the race being a companion event with the Cup Series, there are handful of Cup regulars pulling double duty. History says that the Cup regulars could have a serious upper hand at Dover, and you have to go back to 2005 when Martin Truex Jr. swept both races at the track to find a Nationwide regular in victory lane.

Last June, the Joe Gibbs Racing duo of Joey Logano and Ryan Truex dominated the action, leading a combined 197 of the 200 laps. Logano actually led a race-high 154, but in the closing laps, it was Truex out front with a sizeable cushion. However, the young driver was unable to navigate lap traffic, and Logano caught and passed his teammate to secure the win.

The Favorites

Even though he switched teams in the offseason, Joey Logano still has to be considered one of the drivers to beat this weekend at Dover. After all, he swept both races at the track last year and has finished either first or second in four of his last six starts. Overall, Logano has a 6.5 average finish in eight starts at Dover so there is no reason he can’t complete a Dover three-peat Saturday.

In 18 career Nationwide starts at Dover, Matt Kenseth has finished in the top five in half of them. He is also a two-time winner at the track, and in his last four starts, he has a 5.3 average finish. Granted, Kenseth will be making his first Nationwide start at the track since 2009, but considering Dover is also one of his best tracks at the Cup level, the layoff probably isn’t going to hurt him much.

Since crashing in the Nationwide opener at Daytona, Kyle Busch has gone on to record eighth straight top-three finishes, including a ridiculous six wins. Now, he heads to a Dover track where he has finished in the top five in five straight starts and has won three of the last seven races. Of course, even if Busch didn’t have a great record at Dover, it’s hard to bet against a driver winning 67 percent of his starts.

The Dark Horses

He hasn’t made a start at Dover in the Nationwide Series since June of 2009, but Brian Vickers could make a lot of noise in his return to the track. After all, he has never finished worse than eighth at the track, compiling a 4.5 average finish in four starts. Vickers has finished in the top five in three of those four starts, including a victory in 2003.

Sponsorship issues have forced Trevor Bayne into making three sporadic starts at Dover in the Nationwide Series, but the results have been intriguing. After a rough debut, he finished sixth in his next two attempts with the most recent coming in the fall of 2011. Now that he has a full-time ride with a great team, Bayne could have the extra something he needs to get over the hump and into victory lane.

Sleeper Special

Although he has never had a great run at Dover in the Nationwide Series, Regan Smith has never had a chance to race at the track while driving for a team as strong as the one he is currently on. He enters the race sitting atop the standings, and he hasn’t finished outside the top 15 all year. More importantly, Smith has finished in the top 10 in his last eight starts so he has pretty much been competitive at every track since the 2013 season began.

Big Name to Avoid

Despite making major strides as a stock car racer the last two years, Sam Hornish Jr. has yet to figure out Dover. He has finished outside the top 10 in all three of his Nationwide starts at the track, finishing outside top 15 in two of them. It wouldn’t be a shock to see Hornish have a career day at Dover Saturday, but he has a long way to go before he is challenging for a win at the track.
